Congestion pricing is back in Manhattan, and New York Governor Kathy Hochul is using Orwellian math to warn commuters about the hit to their pocketbooks.

Hochul touted the new charges by saying the new charge of $9 is actually saving commuters money because the original cost was going to be $15.  Hochul claims that the state is actually saving commuters 40% with the reduced fee.

Hochul said, “Under this plan, the MTA will implement congestion price with a reduced daytime toll of $9 beginning of January. You heard that correctly. It was $15 before and now it is $9. That is a 40% reduction. This lower toll will save commuters $1500 annually.”

Only a Democrat would try to gaslight residents into thinking that going from a $0 toll to a $9 toll is a  “40% decrease.”

Using Hochul’s own math, New Yorkers will now pay approximately $2,250 a year to drive into Manhattan. She then tries to claim they are saving money because it is less than the $3,750 originally planned.

Hochul waited until after the election to make the announcement.  The tax was originally proposed in February but paused in June.

Governor Hochul’s move to pause congestion pricing before the election to help her party win, knowing it’s unpopular, only to reinstate it afterward when her party lost, is a blatant political move and a shameless betrayal of New Yorkers. (1/2) https://t.co/xTBgekLEOm

People are not buying Hochul’s attempt to pitch a new expense as a “savings.”

New York commie Kathy Hochul wants the public to praise her for reducing the fee Democrats are imposing on drivers and truckers.

Democrats and the MTA can’t balance a budget so now they’re charging drivers to drive down certain streets.

The congestion pricing is set to begin on Jan. 5, 2025. The plan is focused on the lower half of Manhattan and seeks to “curb traffic jams, cut emissions, and create a more fluid urban landscape.”
