by PAUL COLLITS – ONE of the many unforgivable things the Liberals did in government was to allow the censorship of free speech, executed ironically by Peter Dutton’s then Home Affairs bureaucrats.
The Liberal Party had got itself into a tizz over something called “18c”. This is a section of the Race Discrimination Act relating to free speech.
- What the Liberals did during the “plandemic” was literally criminal.
- The Liberals lied and people died. No Liberal has bothered to say sorry. Not one.
- Australia has been trashed on their watch – and by their hands.
Every man and his dog, from the establishment-linked Institute of Public Affairs to Professor Jim Allan of the University of Queensland, was banging on about something that the Libs couldn’t get through the Senate anyway, and that most Australians had never heard of.
It became a totemic issue for the Right-of-centre, and many people blamed Tony Abbott.
VIOLATIONS
With much irony, a few short years later, the same Liberal Party did far, far worse things in the area of free speech violations.
What they did to Australia during the COVID plandemic was literally criminal, and no prominent Liberal has even bothered to say sorry. Not one.
Dominic Perrottet, the lamentable Liberal Premier of NSW for a time, came the closest with a few weasel words about keeping the lockdowns going a little too long.
I left Facebook and all social media a few years back, after a decade of enjoyable but probably useless prognosticating to a fairly small band of people I hardly knew, and most of whose names I have now forgotten.
The proximate cause of my departure was a post of mine showing a meme of Mark Zuckerberg and Adolf Hitler sitting in the back seat of one of those topless Nazi jalopies, laughing hysterically, while Zuckerberg explained to Hitler the ways in which the tools of tyranny available to modern tech giants made the Third Reich look like a walk in the park.
Well, I earned a 30 day “strike” for this apparent breach of Meta’s “community guidelines”.
Clearly stating the truth in a funny way was too much for the censorship industrial complex. I left the joint forthwith.
I have never looked back at the total waste of time that is social media. (I still don’t understand the point of LinkedIn, the awful Reid Hoffman’s outfit, other than blatant self-promotion in the workplace).
Well, with the suddenness of Daniel Andrews’ declaration in (from memory) 2022 that “the age of COVID exceptionalism is over”, the same Zuckerberg has now declared that the age of fact checkers is over.
Just like that!
My old employer, RMIT University, home to one of these misinformation-hunting mobs (the co-ABC sponsored “FactLab”), will be saddened, no doubt.
Reactions among free speech advocates have been mixed – does he actually mean it? Thank God. Free speech reigns again.
CONNIVANCE
What a waste of money all those legal cases alleging government connivance with tech firms to censor free speech were. All that dosh could have been saved if Zuckerberg had admitted “we did it” a little earlier than this week.
Zuckerberg seems to mean it. He has also (coincidentally) just appointed a Trump ally to the board of Meta and has installed a Republican in a senior position (global affairs). As I have said, Zuckerberg gets the cultural moment.
But it was too little and a little late.
Compared to the Liberals’ grave sins of COVID, their failures over 18c were very, very minor venial sins. Tony Abbott’s real original sin is his seeming, enduring faith in the Liberal Party.
The Party’s awful appointment – under Malcolm Turnbull – of American Julie Inman Grant, the fascist eSafety Commissar, was done in the name of protecting a pandemic narrative based on lies and causing pain, even death, to the innocent.
Think, for example, of the effective anti-COVID drugs denied to people. The Liberals lied and people died.
We are still living with the consequences of that. Just think of long-term myocarditis caused by the jabs that will eventually kill people.
Now we even manufacture the poison in Melbourne, paid for by, oops, we-the-taxpayers. Think of the recession and collapse of small businesses across the country.
Think of the downstream censorship supported by the Liberal Party in the form of recently legislated age restrictions on the internet and the associated back-door digital ID.
If you challenged their narrative, whether on vaccines or lockdowns or masks or travel bans, you were banned from social media and sent to Coventry. Insulted and silenced.
While all of our rights and freedoms were summarily dismissed, nary a word of apology. Just memory-holing and nothing to see here.
Given all this, Zuckerberg’s latter-day conversion to free speech seems a tad, well, latter-day.
Inman Grant remains determinedly stern, though.
Less than a day after Zuckerberg said the company was scaling back efforts to police speech and dial down its content restriction policies, Inman Grant fired off a reminder to technology companies about their responsibilities to police online harm.
“eSafety is aware of Meta’s recent statement regarding changes to its Community Standards, particularly its Hate Speech Policy,” she said.
“Details of these are a matter for Meta, however, I reiterate that as an entity operating within Australia, the company is required to comply with Australian law, including the Online Safety Act.”
Inman Grant is encouraging Australians to report potentially harmful content to the platforms where they are being distributed. If social media companies fail to respond, they may fall foul of the Act.
COTTON SOCKS
Bless her cotton socks. Thank God the Head Girl is here. Fascist is as fascist does.
But there is consternation out there in globalist-land over Zuckerberg’s announcement.
As US lawyer and author Glenn Greenwald says: “There is panic in self-anointed ‘disinformation and fact-checking groups’ that have coerced Big Tech to pay them to dictate which political ideas must be removed.
“The post 2016 financing of this censorship industrial complex bought power and profit. Facebook won’t pay anymore.
Little wins. Little wins. A whole generation of youngsters whose planned careers are now in the toilet. Poof! Gone!
Greenwald also notes: “There is international rage – from the EU and UK to Canada and Brazil – over Zuckerberg’s vow to end political censorship.”
Excellent! The right people are miserable. More Trumpian writing on the wall.
The Babylon Bee noted, wryly: “Guy who said Facebook was not suppressing free speech announces Facebook will stop suppressing free speech.”
As I say, 18c was but a blip, compared to Liberal-supported COVID free speech-crushing. The Grenada invasion compared to World War II.
And still not a word, even of explanation, from then Health Minister Hunt (with a h), Porter, Gladys, The Health Hazzard, ScoMo, Birmo, Dutton and the rest of the plandemic traitors.
Perhaps they think that we haven’t noticed. That we, like them, simply regard their crimes as politics as usual.
Well, we have not forgotten. Zuckerberg’s deadpan Damascene conversion is a timely reminder of all that evil.
An Inquiry into COVID and the censorship industrial complex? Sure, let’s have a proper one. Ah, I forgot, slimy politicians don’t like inquiries.
RAPE GANGS
Sir Keir Starmer has shown us that, in relation to the Pakistani anal rape gangs of Rotherham and Telford. People in Britain are asking how he (Starmer) sleeps at night. People wonder, too, how Fauci sleeps at night.
We might well ask the Libs down under the very same question. Australia has been trashed, on their watch, and much worse, by their own hands.
And as Joe Rogan and Mel Gibson have been recently discussing in a fascinating podcast – it is Mel, after all – there is good and evil abroad and COVID showed many of us – the awake – that it was true evil that drove the “pandemic response”.
You don’t just “forget” evil. You are barely able to forgive it. I can’t.
Real evil exists and it took root in the minds and actions of the Covid class.
The scared, duped politicians, the Pharma crooks, the media in the pay of the Pharma crooks. The university professors in the pay of the Pharma crooks. The sneering faux-journalists and newspaper editors not doing their jobs.
Not to mention the fact checkers – like Zuckerberg’s cadres of teenaged goon squadders – the dobbing Karens, the squirming lying doctors, the bureaucrats and the lap-top class generally, who worked from home for handsome pay.
Not a pretty lot. All working in sync playing their allocated parts.
And THEIR pandemic – the establishment’s pandemic – was all propped up by the censors. They were the ones who stopped the light from getting in. They painted truth-tellers as granny killers.
The COVID class could not have pulled it off without the narrative protection, and their collusion has now been called out (accidentally?) by one of the very participants.
Zuckerberg now says hey-ho, it’s time to move on.
A five-minute video and a new hairstyle should do it. “Sorry” delivered with a perm, a tee shirt and bling.
