THE Queen has delivered a public backhander to Labor leader Anthony Albanese and his republican cheer squad after they knowingly lied about her part in the Whitlam dismissal.
Even after the dismissal documents were publicly released disproving any palace plot, Albanese and his republican mates “pretended” otherwise.
On the day of their release the stumbling Labor leader misled Australians saying the Queen’s “involvement” showed there was something “very wrong”.
TRUTH
“There is something very wrong with our structures of government when someone on the other side of the world was involved and engaged in this process,” Albanese said after the documents – and the truth – were released on Tuesday.
Gough Whitlam’s Labor government was dismissed by Australian Governor-General Sir John Kerr after it failed to have its 1975 budget passed by Parliament – effectively sending the government into bankruptcy.
Labor’s current shadow attorney-general Mark Dreyfus added to Albanese’s shameless spin.
“These letters reveal our unelected head of state was advising the governor-general on how to remove our elected prime minister,” he said.
BACKHANDER
He made these comments knowing the newly released documents said the exact opposite.
In a 1975 letter from the Queen’s secretary Martin Charteris, Kerr was told: “The crisis, as you say, has to be worked out in Australia.
“It is good that the Queen is being informed but, of course, that does not mean she has any wish to intervene.”
The correspondence made clear the Crown was unaware of Kerr’s intention to dismiss Whitlam until after it had occurred on November 11, 1975.
Responding to the resulting misinformation from Labor and Left-wing media commentators this week, the palace took the extraordinary step of calling out their lies.
“The Queen played no role in the dismissal of the Whitlam government … nor did she advise Governor-General John Kerr on how to dismiss Gough Whitlam,” Buckingham Palace declared.
DEFEATED
After being resoundingly defeated in 1999, the Australian republican movement is continuing its efforts to trick Australia into changing its tried and tested constitution – by replacing its independent governor-general with a politically appointed head of state.
National Convenor of Australians for Constitutional Monarchy David Flint said it was fitting that Australia’s fake republicans should be so liberally smeared with egg.
“They are fake because they reject real republics, such as the United States, in favour of trying to contort what is essentially a constitutional monarchy into a highly flawed and unacceptable politicians’ republic,” Prof Flint said.
FAKE
“The release of the so-called ‘Palace Letters’ between Governor-General Sir John Kerr and Buckingham Palace has confirmed what every serious observer has long known was beyond doubt, that the Queen had no advance knowledge whatsoever of the dismissal of Prime Minister Gough Whitlam.
“Nor indeed were the Queen and the British government in league with Sir John.”PC
I think Anthony Albanese and Labor owe Her Majesty an unqualified apology.
Great article and good to see the Queen slap down these lying wretches. It is quite complex so one can see how these rattlesnakes are trying to use this to cover their real intentions.
Yes, for it has been obvious, from the start, that this was just a ploy for more money into the wrong pockets. I am still waiting to hear their explanation of the difference between a commonwealth and a republic, because, as near as the world knows, they are synonyms.
Haha we are protected from these pretend republican fools by our constitution.
What we need to do is rid ourselves of these wanna be heads of state.
It is quite clear from the Dismissal that our Head of state is the Governor-General, as the High Court said way back in about 1906.
