President Trump’s choice of MAGA warrior Rep. Matt Gaetz (R-FL) as his next attorney general has allegedly hit a significant roadblock in the Senate.

As The Gateway Pundit reported, Trump sent shockwaves throughout the political world on Wednesday after announcing Gaetz as America’s next leading law enforcement official. Trump called him a “deeply gifted and tenacious attorney” who will “end Weaponized Government, protect our Borders, dismantle Criminal Organizations, and restore Americans’ badly shattered Faith and Confidence in the Justice Department.”

Moreover, Trump said Gaetz as Attorney General would “root out the systemic corruption at DOJ, and return the Department to its true mission of fighting Crime, and upholding our Democracy and Constitution.”

Hearing this news was hailed by conservative activists and publications across the country, including The Gateway Pundit. After witnessing Trump get backstabbed by the likes of Jeff Sessions and Bill Barr during his first term in office, having someone willing to focus on upholding the Constitution is a welcome change.

Many Senate Republicans, though, allegedly loathe the thought of Gaetz being unleashed to drain the Deep State swamp as Attorney General.

The two most left-wing GOPers in the conference, Lisa Murkowski of Alaska and Susan Collins of Maine have already announced their opposition to Gaetz.

But the number of silent no’s is allegedly far higher. According to a report in The Wall Street Journal published on Friday, as many as 30 RINOS have decided to spit in Trump’s face and vote no on Gaetz’s nomination when it comes before the Senate.

“People are p***ed,” one source told the Journal.

From the Journal:

One person familiar with the conversations among Republican senators said “significantly more than four” of them are opposed, which would be enough to tank Gaetz’s chances. “People are p*ssed,” the person said.

Other estimates ranged from more than a dozen Republican “no” votes to more than 30. “It won’t even be close,” another person said.

RINO senators are also determined to make the process as painful as possible for Gaetz. John Cornyn of Texas told reporters on Thursday that he “absolutely” wants to review the House Ethics Committee’s investigation of Matt Gaetz.

“I think there should not be any limitation on the Senate Judiciary Committee’s investigation, including what the House Ethics Committee generated,” Cornyn told reporters on Thursday.

“So you want to see [the report]?” ABC’s Rachel Scott asked Cornyn.

“Absolutely,” Cornyn replied.

The House Ethics Committee’s years-long investigation into Gaetz over allegations of sexual misconduct ended prior to his resignation from Congress. The Gateway Pundit previously reported on the Ethics Committee’s resurrection of the garbage allegations against Gaetz, even after the Biden Department of Injustice cleared Gaetz of all criminal wrongdoing and dropped the charges in February 2023.

However, the investigation was reopened in 2023 when Gaetz challenged disgraced former House Speaker Kevin McCarthy, who was later booted by Gaetz’s Motion to Vacate the Chair. Later, when Gaetz threatened to bring a Motion to Vacate against McCarthy in October 2023, McCarthy’s cronies started threatening to expel Gaetz based on the Committee’s witch-hunt.
