Last week, Michigan’s dirty Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson was the first elected official in the state’s history to be held in contempt of Congress for refusing to turn over subpoenaed election information to lawmakers. Today, Articles of Impeachment have been filed against the current Secretary of State and Democratic candidate for Governor, Jocelyn Benson.

The subpoena issued by the Michigan House, which demanded that Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson provide election training materials, was issued in April with a May 22 deadline for submitting the materials. Unfortunately, for the citizens of Michigan, a significant portion of taxpayer dollars has been spent on defending the illegal activity by Michigan’s Secretary of State, Benson, who spends more time in court fighting lawsuits by plaintiffs demanding transparency and honest voter rolls than actually doing her job.

House Speaker Pro Tempore Rachelle Smit (R-Martin) released a statement following the contempt vote, highlighting the House’s persistence: “For seven months, we’ve given Secretary Benson every opportunity to sit down with us and discuss the training process for clerks and their staffs. I made my first information request in November of last year. Since then, we’ve gone back and forth repeatedly as MDOS has blocked our access to the materials used to train our clerks and their staff.” Joining Smit at the podium were Rep. Ann Bollin (R-Brighton Township), Chair of the House Appropriations Committee, and Rep. Jay DeBoyer (R-Clay Township), Chair of the House Oversight Committee.

The civil contempt vote was sponsored by Representatives Jay DeBoyer (R) and Ann Bollin (R) and was approved along party lines. Fifty-eight representatives voted in favor of contempt, while 47 voted against, and 5 representatives abstained from voting.

Benson is a master at deception. On September 11, 2024, only months before the general election, Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson sat defiantly before the Committee on House Administration, hearing “American Confidence in Elections: Looking Ahead to the 2024 General Election.” Benson can be seen smugly answering “yeah” when asked a question by Congressman Bryan Steil about Biden’s executive order that uses “our taxpayer dollars” to register voters by the partisan SBA or Small Business Administration.

The video, showing her testimony only months before the 2024 general election, provides some insight into the arrogance of Jocelyn Benson as she brazenly talks over the congressman while asking her specific questions about why Michigan is the only state that has entered into a contract with the SBA, under the “strategy” of a “strategic plan,” that was hidden by the Biden regime.   With a condescending smirk on her face, Jocelyn Benson deflects serious questions about her use of taxpayer dollars to work with partisan left-leaning groups to register voters.

Benson vehemently argued against proof of citizenship to vote during the congressional hearing. One month later, a Chinese student at the University of Michigan voted in the 2024 general election. He was only caught because, after he voted, he returned to the early voting center to request his ballot back. He was told his votes had already been cast and there was no way to retrieve them. The 19-year-old student was charged and held on a $5,000 bond. Last week, he used a second passport to flee the United States and prosecution for his crime, conveniently giving Jocelyn Benson a pass on having to deal with the public relations nightmare of his trial. It was later discovered that an additional 15 non-citizens had also voted in Michigan’s November 2024 election.

Last week, a 19-yr-old Chinese citizen who illegally voted in MI’s 2024 general election was able to use a 2nd passport to evade prosecution by fleeing to China.

On Tuesday, Michigan Representative Jim DeSana announced House Resolution 118, which are Articles of Impeachment against Michigan’s dishonest Secretary of State, Jocelyn Benson. The former Southern Poverty Law Center (hate group) board member, who began her political career with the financial support of the world’s most notorious open-borders financier, billionaire George Soros, may finally have to answer for her arrogant disregard for the law.

Rep. DeSana said it was his “belief that we are dealing with the most lawless secretary of state in Michigan’s history.” DeSana reminded the press that during her 1 1/2 terms in office, Michigan courts have ruled against Benson an astounding SEVEN times! DeSana explained the charges against her: “Article One states that Secretary Benson has routinely exceeded her authority by ignoring the procedural requirements imposed by the legislature and statute. Secretary Benson’s PAC made a $82,500 donation to the “Keep Justice Kyra Harris Bolden for Justice Committee” (for Michigan Supreme Court) one month before her arguments before the Supreme Court on O’Halloran vs Benson,” the case where the plaintiff was arguing that Benson violated the law when she arbitrarily, with no legislative oversight, changed the poll challenger rules to give them little to no ability to oversee elections. When the Court of Claims issued a similar ruling, the Michigan Secretary of State (SOS) ignored the order. After plaintiffs filed a motion to hold the Michigan Secretary of State (MI SOS) in contempt of court, the Michigan Supreme Court, in a rare action, intervened and stated that it was acceptable for the MI SOS to conduct an unlawful election. The case was taken up by the Michigan Court of Appeals, where justices in a 3-0 decision voted that Benson’s actions were illegal.

Rep. DeSana also reminded the media about how Jocelyn Benson issued guidance to her clerks in 2020, instructing them to disregard signature matching. Rep. Jim DeSana explained how Jocelyn Benson told the State Board of Canvassers to certify the November 3, 2020, election, even though she had been made aware that the Wayne County Board of Canvassers never properly certified the results of the election. The well-respected lawmaker also cited Jocelyn Benson’s deletion of the electronic and paper copies of the QVF (Qualified Voter Files) and electronic poll book records, noting that her deletion of election data occurred before the federally mandated period for retaining all election records, which is 22 months. He also cited how the Democrat SOS violated the law when Benson threatened local boards of canvassers who potentially would not certify their elections at the local level.

Michigan Fair Elections breaks down the articles in the official impeachment document.

In Article One, the legislators say Benson has “repeatedly exceeded the scope of her authority” as set out in Michigan law and has “exhibited corrupt conduct when these actions were challenged.”

Article Two addresses Benson’s handling of state elections. It notes she is responsible for administering elections “in a secure manner and responding appropriately when questions are raised.” But the legislators contend Benson “has failed to adequately respond to the concerns of the people, and thus has failed to fulfill her role as chief election officer.”

The final article contests a major plank in Benson’s campaign for governor. When she announced her run for governor on January 22 — illegally using state property to promote her campaign — she said her focus as governor would be on “efficiency and transparency.” This article expresses concerns regarding Benson’s lack of transparency and her refusal to communicate. The third article of the impeachment resolution states that, under her watch, Benson has made the people of Michigan feel “ignored, belittled, and disrespected.”

Before the 2024 election, MI SOS Benson brazenly admitted that she’s “coordinating” with six Democratic Secretaries of State in critical swing states to “fight a common adversary,” AKA, election integrity groups and individuals, and create a coordinated response to their allegations.

Republican Michigan House Speaker Matt Hall recently discussed how Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson violated campaign finance laws when she announced her candidacy for governor from her taxpayer-funded office. Although Benson clearly violated the law, Michigan’s equally lawless Attorney General Dana Nessel, who has been maniacally focused on punishing her political enemies, doesn’t appear to be interested in pursuing charges against Jocelyn Benson.

From campaign finance violations to shady website deals, “it’s been a very bad week for Jocelyn Benson—and it’s just getting started”.

Senate Minority Leader Aric Nesbit recently shared a video of Jocleyn Benson threatening [Republican] poll challengers, warning that “Anyone who breaks the law or violates ethical responsibilities around elections needs to be removed.”

“Except for me.” Nesbit, who is running for MI governor in the Republican primary, writes.

Local “news” media would like their readers to believe that the wildly unpopular and untrustworthy Michigan Secretary of State Jocelyn Benson has taken a commanding lead in the upcoming 2026 gubernatorial race.

Here is MI SOS Benson’s response to being held in civil contempt by the MI House. Please take a moment to read the reactions under her post, as they are not atypical. As someone who has been sharing posts from social media for years, I’ve never received consistently negative responses to comments by a political figure, with rates ranging from the high 90th percentile to 100% of all comments.

Feel free to check out any post by Jocelyn Benson on her “X” account, and it will become increasingly clear that she has serious trust issues with citizens of Michigan and across the country. Suppose Ms. Benson isn’t given the ability to steal her own election in 2026. Why would anyone believe it’s possible, given her extremely low likability, for her to win her bid for governor?
