‘Invasion Day’ con just white-faced lies

INVASION Day protests are “nonsense” and not supported by the vast majority of indigenous Australians, according to Northern Territory politician Jacinta Price.

In an interview on Sky News yesterday, the Alice Spring’s deputy mayor signalled out Sydney-based federal MP Zali Steggall, saying Australia Day protests were just virtue signalling by 90 per cent white faces.

Ms Steggall has called for a minute’s silence each January 26 to mourn the arrival of white settlers to Australia almost 250 years ago.

“I’m a little disappointed that my local ABC failed to acknowledge Australia Day or use the term Australia Day at all,” Ms Price said.

“They did, in fact, put up a post about the ‘invasion day’ rallies but didn’t acknowledge that 90 per cent of attendance at the rallies was non-indigenous.

“I think every-day Australians – those of us who appreciate this country, who do want to celebrate the day for what it actually is – are waking up to the nonsense and engaging more in the debate.

“Either that or they’re just saying ‘you know bugger it, we are going to celebrate this day regardless’.”

Ms Price said she believed the Australian spirit continued to shine “so there is certainly hope”.

“The vast majority of indigenous Australians don’t jump up and down. They’re part of the quiet Australians, they are part of that majority of us who just want to get on with things.

“We don’t want to be continually painted as though we are helpless victims, which is what all these non-indigenous protesters who jump on the band wagon are perpetuating.

“That’s what Zali Steggall is perpetuating, this idea that we are all a bunch of helpless victims and that we need our white allies to hold our hand and condemn the wider community for what happened in our country’s history.”

Ms Price said indigenous and white Australians had good, close relationships.

“In places like Melbourne, Sydney and Brisbane, 85 per cent of those who claim indigenous heritage are partnered with and having children with those who aren’t,” she said.

“So [the protests] don’t make sense. We’re all Australian.” PC

  1. Jacinta Price is expressing exactly what the majority of Australians believe and want for our nation. It has been noted by many seeing the footages of the protestors that the majority protesting was a mix of very little indigenous, and mostly white caucasian, Asian, Indian, and European descendants. We are not a nation of white supremacists but have traditionally accepted people for what they are and react to how we treat each other. Current generations cannot continue to be punished or made feel guilty for what happened in the past. We have all realized how harsh and cruel life was 200+ years ago, but not today. Australia is a great country so let all people unite and respect the wonderful life and opportunities we have.

  2. Jacinta Price is a wonderful example of what modern Indigenous young adults can achieve today. She is going places in a fast upward trajectory!
