THE US Congress has overwhelmingly rejected claims of election fraud by certifying Democratic Party candidate Joe Biden as president-elect.
The certification comes after a tumultuous day in Washington with the Capitol stormed by protestors, a reported four related deaths and Republican politicians reneging on contesting the 2020 Presidential Election result as promised.
DEFIANT
Biden received 306 electoral votes to President Trump’s 232.

A defiant Trump said his fight was just beginning.
“Even though I totally disagree with the outcome of the election, and the facts bear me out, nevertheless there will be an orderly transition on January 20th. I have always said we would continue our fight to ensure that only legal votes were counted,” he said after the certification.
“While this represents the end of the greatest first term in presidential history, it’s only the beginning of our fight to Make America Great Again!”
President Trump told protesting supporters attending the January 6 rally that the Democratic Party had stolen the election and the “fake news media” had supported them.
“That’s what they’ve done and what they’re doing. We will never give up. We will never concede, it doesn’t happen. You don’t concede when there’s theft involved,” he told the crowd.
Only two of the seven contested States, Arizona and Pennsylvania, received formal objections. Both, however, were overwhelmingly voted down by lawmakers 93-6 and 92-7 respectively.
DISPUTE
Georgia, Michigan, Wisconsin, Nevada and New Mexico, which had also cast dueling electors were subsequently handed to Biden without dispute.
Prior to the vote, a number of protesters entered the Capitol, sending Congress into a spin and forcing security to use tear gas to disperse many thousands of Trump supporters still outside.
Video footage showed protesters inside the chamber lounging on lawmakers’ benches, including the Speaker’s chair.
A woman shot inside the building has been identified as Trump supporter Ashli Babbitt. The three other deaths resulted from medical complications allegedly brought on by the use of tear gas.
After the disturbance, a number of Republican senators reversed their earlier positions – including outgoing Republican Senator Kelly Loeffler from Georgia – and instead backed the Democratic electoral slate.
Senator Josh Hawley, however, who led the charge in the Senate, stayed the course demanding an investigation into election “irregularities and fraud”.
RIGGED
His Senate colleague Senator Ted Cruz joined him.
“Polling shows that 39 per cent of Americans believe the election that just occurred was rigged,” Senator Ted Cruz told Congress.
“This is the reality for nearly half the country and I note that it is not just Republicans that believe that.
“Even if you don’t share that conviction, it’s the responsibility of this office to acknowledge that this is a profound threat to this country and to the legitimacy of any administration that will come in the future.
“What does it say to nearly half the country that believes this election was rigged if we vote not even to consider the claims of illegality and fraud in this election.” PC
In my opinion, the main stream media coverage of election fraud has been a disgrace and totally biased. Thank you for the coverage @ Politicom. With such high voter dissatisfaction Joe Biden’s credibility will be dismal from the outset and expect more people to reject the main stream media both in the US and Australia.
