Pistorius: No Taurus missiles for Zelensky and his regime.

It’s a long and tedious soap opera: Will Germany send long-range Taurus missiles to Ukraine?

Since the start of the war, Berlin has been debating the delivery of the cruise missiles ‘demanded’ by Kiev.

While former Chancellor Olaf Scholz rejected this several times, current head of government Friedrich Merz made a point of raising Ukrainian hopes – but it seems like it was all in vain.

Back in April, Merz was creating false hopes for Ukraine.

Now, Defense Minister Boris Pistorius went to Kiev and clarified the issue without any ambiguity.

NTV reported (translated from the German):

“According to German Defense Minister Boris Pistorius, Germany is not planning to supply Taurus cruise missiles to Ukraine. In response to a question on this during his visit to Kyiv, the minister replied: ‘Since you asked me a question about whether we are considering this, my answer is no’. Ukraine has long demanded the delivery of this weapon with a range of more than 500 kilometers, which could be used to attack targets far into Russian territory from Ukraine.”

No Taurus missiles for Ukraine:

Q: “Given the intensification of shelling of all Ukrainian cities, and Kyiv in particular, over the past week, are you considering supplying Taurus missiles to us?”

In his surprise visit to Ukraine, Pistorius arrived in Kiev capital in the morning and met with Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The defense minister announced a further 1.9 billion euros in military aid, depending on parliament approval.

“If the Bundestag decides on this additional sum, Germany will make a total of around 9 billion euros available to Ukraine this year, Pistorius said.”

Long-range Taurus cruise missiles will NOT be sent to Ukraine.

“Germany is prepared to take over the financing of ‘long-range fire’ systems produced in Ukraine. And the first systems should be available in the next few months, the minister said. ‘And secondly, we will make money available so that the Ukrainian government, the Ukrainian armed forces, can buy material from the Ukrainian arms industry, whose capacities can thus be better utilized’.”
