Per Fox 5 DC:

A man was shot inside Union Station on Monday afternoon, prompting a large police response and road closures in the area as authorities investigated the incident.

Law enforcement officials, along with emergency crews, remain on the scene assisting with the investigation. Authorities have urged the public to avoid the area while they respond to the potential security threat.

As a precaution, Columbus Circle between Louisiana Avenue and First Street NE is shut down, and low-flying helicopters can be seen overhead.

What we don’t know: Officials have not yet released details about a suspect or any potential arrests. The motive for the shooting has not been disclosed.

Scott Jennings, CNN’s token conservative, said he was in the train station during the shooting. “They ran right past me,” he said:

Not usually a breaking news reporter but I was in Union Station when this happened. Heard the shots. Saw the victim hit the floor at the bottom of the escalator. Saw two people flee the scene. Happened on second floor, escalator near Andrews Ties. They ran right past me.
