Liberal Left loses grip on power

THE Liberal Party’s once-dominant Left faction has suffered a surprising blow after failing to install its candidate into Gladys Berejiklian’s former seat of Willoughby.

Menzies Research Centre director Tim James snatched preselection for the former NSW premier’s stomping ground 58-52 and is set to cruise into parliament at an upcoming by-election, expected as early as next month.

The Liberal Left were incensed about their loss on Thursday night – more so because two feminist women had lost to a conservative white male.

Mr James, aligned with the Liberal’s Right-wing, overcame two competitive candidates including former Channel 7 presenter Kellie Sloane and the Left’s preferred Gail Giles-Gidney.

His victory has caused consternation among the Left, especially given that Ms Giles-Gidney reportedly had the blessing of Ms Berejiklian.

DAMAGED

While mainstream media depicts Ms Berejiklian as much loved, her standing among significant sectors of the Liberal Party had been badly damaged by her embrace of socialist policies – including late-term abortion, relaxed bestiality laws and extended lock-downs.

Her factional colleagues were incensed about the loss on Thursday night – more so because two women had lost to a conservative white man.

“Looks like we’re losing the seat, and we deserve to,” one bitter “moderate” told The Sydney Morning Herald yesterday.

“It’s a terrible result for the Party,” he said. “He Steven Bradbury’d his way to victory.”

Ms Berejiklian resigned as premier last October after the NSW corruption commission revealed it was investigating whether she breached public trust or encouraged corrupt conduct during her secret relationship with disgraced former MP Daryl Maguire.

By-elections in the seats of Willoughby, Monaro, Bega and Strathfield were initially planned for February 12, but a March date is also currently being considered by the NSW Speaker’s office.

Willoughby, on Sydney’s lower north shore, has been held by the Liberal Party since 1981, with Ms Berejiklian filling the seat for 18 years.

The 2019 State election saw the Party win the seat with slightly more than 57 per cent of the vote, compared to the ALP on just a tad over 14 per cent.PC

  1. Congratulations Tim on a well deserved victory in the Willoughby preselection!! It is good to see good values come into play again in NSW politics.
While the mainstream media may have depicted Gladys as very popular, it doesn’t explain why so many people turned off their radios for her 11am report for months before she stepped down and even pre her ICAC hearing. They turned on again after around 30mins when it was deemed she had finished her say, to listen to Ray Hadley summarise the important points in 5 minutes. Amazing that!

  2. The problem is that there is, indeed, such a thing that exists as the ‘Liberal left’. If they just removed them from where they shouldn’t be, there wouldn’t be any problems.

  3. Are these left leaning Liberals really Liberals, or are they ” Liberal Wolves dressed in Labor/Green Linen” Cogitate on this conservatives!

    1. Berejiklian, Kean and crew are nothing more than money-grabbing political wolves dressed in conservative clothing.

  4. The big two parties are interchangeable and both are Socialists Scumbags . Gladys who had a crack Transport Minister ( all under private hands now ) Health Minister ( look at the state of NSW Health Now ) ??? We have been getting lulled down the path of NWO politics and all too willingly allowed it to happen . Wake Up COVID has been the Scam Card all have craved to cripple us all.

  5. Don’t believe a TRUE conservative is going to contest the seat. With ongoing infiltration of the left, didn’t think it possible.Being a 60 year LP voter I might stay with them after all.

  6. Meanwhile over in Gilmore, Captain’s Pick Andrew Constance is preselected, without a ballot, without branch endorsements. The shoulder taps and the back room manipulations have ensued as they continue unabated. After all ScoMo sticking his beak in, worked so well for the Liberals in Gilmore last time. So much for “we’re a democratic party, our representatives are elected by ballots of branch members”.

It’s great to see Tim James winning the Willoughby pre-selection contest, but don’t anyone be under the misconception that the woke left has lost it’s grip upon the NSW Liberal organisation. It’s a cancer that has riddled the party, and damaged it to a point it’s prognosis is likely terminal.

  7. I don’t care which disgraceful fake liberal faction the candidate belongs to. The liberals are actually Nazi & fascists who have just deported the world’s healthiest person in athlete Djokovic. I will be cancelling my liberal party membership 9am on Monday morning. Tim James good luck but do it all yourself mate. I’m not going to stand outside a polling booth all day for a stale sandwich, a bottle of water and a dry apple. Vote UAP / LDP for Liberty NOT fake liberalism. Clot Morrison and Alex Hawke have forever damaged the liberal brand.

    1. Astonished to learn that Mr Barra is/was a member of the LPA. Thrilled to learn of his resignation. Certain that he will be welcomed into the ranks of the UAP. Mr Barra’s political discernment is evident in calling the LPA ‘Nazi’ and ‘fascist’. These lazy generalisations are always useful for those lacking deeper analytical gifts.

  8. Good on Tim James. He’s fought the good fight, despite the odds. So long as he remains true to his values (and doesn’t crumble into dealing with the left).
