FORMER NSW premier Gladys Berejiklian has told her corruption inquiry she had no idea her then boyfriend Darryl Maguire was corrupt when she asked for his resignation from parliament.
In a direct question, counsel assisting ICAC, Scott Robertson, asked if Ms Berejiklian knew if Mr Maguire was engaged in corrupt conduct at the time. She answered “no”.

Her response follows the release of a secretly recorded conversations from 2018 in which Ms Berejiklian appeared to avoid discussing Mr Maguire’s side-line activities.
“I don’t need to know about that,” Ms Berejiklian said at one point during their conversation.
STUFF
“I need you to come to the realisation that it’s got nothing to do with me,” she also said during the same conversation.
She finished the phone call with: “You’ve got to think about your stuff and I’ve got to think about my stuff.”
It increasingly appears the inquiry into the former premier hinges on the meaning of the word “stuff”.
The “stuff” conversation between the then couple appears to have been buried by a doting main stream media, who refer to Ms Berejiklian as “much loved”, “popular” and repeatedly suggest she’s a mere victim of a bad relationship.
Her efforts to transform the Liberal Party into a radical faction of The Greens are largely celebrated by a fawning, Left-leaning media.
FAILING
The corruption inquiry into Mr Berejiklian alleges she deliberately withheld knowledge about the corrupt conduct of Mr Maguire and that she potentially encouraged his conduct by failing to act within her duties.
It also seeks to establish whether Ms Berejiklian breached public trust by failing to disclose her relationship while Mr Maguire sought millions of dollars of public funding for projects in his electorate, and while she allegedly assisted with advancing them.
Mr Maguire was forced out of parliament by Ms Berejiklian prior to the scandal around him being made public.
Their long-term relationship, however, continued until he had admitted that he had turned his parliamentary office into a money-making lobbyist shop.
The 62-year-old Mr Maguire is a father of two children and is now divorced.PC
What a wasted barron life in pursuit of power, big wages and entitlements?
Sad, pathetic brought to you by the Liberal lobbyists faction
She brought an-unconstitional, mad-max, hunger games society to the rest of us
Nuremburg 2.0 is coming
Great comment Brett – totally agree.
I remember when this came out a few months ago. I was at work and the news was on the TV. Surrounded by my lefty colleagues I stated the obvious – ‘She’s got to go’ I said. You should have seen the hate faces take aim at me. Taking my opportunity to melt the flakes even further I added ‘what a disgrace – as if she was not aware what that guy was up to.. and not just a party pleb, she is the Premier! She has to go!’
Well, wasn’t I popular with my colleagues? Funny though – now that she was pushed out – finally – my lefty colleagues still harness the hatred!
I have had the same experience from many myself . She brought a big debt and economic crippling upon the state and her public assets sales have been going unquestioned . She has made a killing form our pain as has Hazzard and Chant. They have agreed to $65 million deal with pfizer and sisterhood all fawned at her feet.
