Dutton dumps environmental primacy

by CRYSTAL-ROSE JONES – LIBERAL Leader Peter Dutton has vowed to approve a gas plant extension, set to operate until 2070, within 30 days if elected in this year’s federal election.

At the heart of the election promise is Woodside’s North West Shelf in Western Australia – one of the largest and most significant natural gas projects in Australia.

Peter Dutton’s plan to scale back green tape has been dismissed by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as just “another thought bubble”.

Uncertainty has beleaguered the intended expansion of the facility, which is owned by Woodside Petroleum and other key players including BHP and Shell.

Dutton said his government would move quickly to break the deadlock.

EXTEND THE LIFE

“We’ve outlined three key points on how we would work with industry, particularly when it comes to the North West Shelf and Woodside with their project there to extend the life of that,” he said.

“Of course, there is a process to go through, but a Dutton Government, once elected, would within 30 days expect the department to provide to the minister, the information necessary to enable us to make a decision.”

He accused Infrastructure Minister Catherine King of stalling approvals, hurting investment confidence.

“It’s no good for Catherine King to sit on her hands as she has – not just with this project – but so many others, delaying decisions and causing investor uncertainty.”

Dutton said the project was about ensuring employment for many Australians.

“I’m seeking a mandate from the Australian people, and in particular from the people of Western Australia, to make sure we can keep mines going and to keep investment and approval processes flowing,” he said.

“Because without it, there are no jobs.”

Mr Dutton’s plans, however, have been dismissed by Prime Minister Anthony Albanese as “another thought bubble”.

“It lasts about as long as a bit of a soap bubble that comes up from a bubble bath,” he said.

“It just disappears into the ether.

“They just come up with these things and they walk away from them, whether it’s referendums, whether it be zonal taxation rates, whether it be the other statements that Peter Dutton makes.”

Albanese also suggested environmental factors would be key in decision-making, revealing that the project had only come across the government’s desk in recent weeks.

The project has faced strong opposition from the Greens, who have criticised its long-term impact on the environment.

The company behind the project, however, welcomed the Opposition’s promise.

“Timely approval of the North West Shelf Extension is critical to ensure this nationally significant asset continues to provide a reliable energy supply to Western Australian businesses and homes,” a Woodside spokesperson said.PC

  1. Labor and the Greens want to run this country together, and that should terrify every hardworking Australian.
We’re staring down the barrel of a hung parliament, and Adam Bandt is already picking out the colour scheme for his new ministerial office. Everyone knows Anthony Albanese will do anything to cling to power, even if it means selling out Australian families and workers to the Greens.

The Greens are circling, ready to push radical demands: open borders, climate taxes, and shutting down Aussie jobs. They want to flood schools with ideology instead of teaching the basics. The nation’s top energy chiefs have already warned Australians about the dangers of a Greens and Labor power-sharing nightmare.

World Economic Forum graduate Greens Sarah Hanson-Young was hiding behind the door when brains were handed out
We’re already getting a taste of it. Just weeks after WA handed the Greens the balance of power, they came out swinging. Their first move? Pushing for extreme changes to climate laws that would drive up power prices, destroy jobs, and punish Australian industries.

They’re not hiding it. This is the power-sharing playbook, and when Labor and the Greens sign their deal, it will go national. We’ve seen it before. Labor caved to the Greens under Julia Gillard. They signed a power-sharing deal once, and they’ll do it again. Only this time, things will be worse.

  2. Disgraceful, woke universities where 1.08 million international students buy their bachelor degrees
    Excerpt >
But while halting the very public and illegal breaches of the nation’s borders, politicians from both sides of the house were scheming to trash Australia’s border security in a technically legal and more insidious manner.

Last week it was revealed that a record 200,000 immigrants arrived to the nation in February.

According to the latest figures from the Australian Bureau of Statistics, 201,490 foreigners arrived on student visas in February, a 15% increase on the same month last year, and 10% more than the previous record set in February 2019 under the previous Coalition government.

The record arrivals come after the Labor pledged to reduce migration during the 2022 election campaign, only to preside over the arrival of about 1.5 million immigrants since the election in May last year, dwarfing its own migration forecasts.

It goes without saying that the vast majority of these immigrants come from India or China; one only has to look at our streets to understand that reality. How many total international students are studying in Australian universities at any one time?

According to Education Department data, in the year to November 2024 there were 1,081,300 international student enrolments, a 12% increase year-on-year………..
During that time, the student’s family members in their native country will funnel money into Australia via their chosen relative so as to purchase multiple properties in the country. Once the former student obtains permanent residency they can then begin to import their family members into Australia. It takes a large family network back in India to pool the necessary financial resources to make this happen, all of whom will want to get into the country.

As a result, house prices have gone through the roof. This is the backbone of the Australian economy. But it gets worse, if that is even possible. Our universities are open hotbeds of Marxist indoctrination. It was revealed last week that law students at Macquarie University are required to participate in woke ideology and nativist pagan practices as a requirement for passing their courses.

Law students at Macquarie University face the threat of failing a key exam if they perform an underwhelming acknowledgement of country or refuse to acknowledge traditional Aboriginal owners at all, in a move labelled “indoctrination” by Indigenous leaders. 3. Sometime ago I hoped that the Leader of the opposition would be so much better than the woeful lot we have in power now. Sadly I have had to snap back into the reality that we are now having to face for the next three years (four for Albanese)
Dutton is promising to nibble at the edges of the climate scam but those welded on Libs in his party will no doubt rein him in on any real attempt to step out of the control centre.
Most surveys reveal that Australians want a real reduction on immigration and yet! Here we see Dutton proudly and enthusiastically telling us that we will be rolling out the red carpet for around one million people from India, in a similar deal to that of Penny Wong’s with Prime Minister Modi which
Is in exchange for the sharing of technology on how to make India’s industry more climate friendly.
Dutton was also happy to reveal that there are plans to build a school for Hindu’s supposedly to make their transition more comfortable. This surely does not align with the idea of migrants being encouraged to assimilate into Australia’s way of life.
Politicians all around the world seem to be hell bent on forcing policies on their constituents that most do not want but whilst all we are presented with are uni parties, the voting public will seek to rebel against them. Western countries are in turmoil and it will become increasingly difficult for authorities to keep a lid on the revolution that is starting to happen around the world.
