US Osan Air Base in South Korea – Wiki Commons
It’s the same US base that had a white phosphorus leak a few days ago.
A group of liberal South Korean students gathered to protest outside Osan base, the main installation of the US Air Force in South Korea.
The group was demonstrating against the US military’s presence in Gwangju, arguing that it could complicate Seoul’s major chipmaking project planned there.
Eight students have been recorded breaching the perimeter of the base and have been arrested.

Euronews reported:
“A group of eight South Korean student protestors were in detention and under investigation on Wednesday after trying to break into a US air base, police and the American military said.
The Korean Progressive University Student Union posted social media images of its Tuesday demonstration outside the Osan Air Base, about 50 kilometres south of Seoul.”

“Eight people were detained on Tuesday after they ‘attempted to unlawfully enter Osan Air Base through the installation’s main gate’, a US military statement sent to the AFP news agency said.
The military ‘transferred them to the Korean National Police, who have assumed custody and are conducting the appropriate investigative procedures’, it added.”
Eight South Korean students were detained after allegedly entering Osan Air Base and shouting anti-U.S. slogans, including “Let’s smash U.S. 7th Air Force,” according to South Korean police. They are being investigated under a law protecting military installations.…

Held by the police, the students reportedly have so far refused to speak during questioning.
