President Trump speaks to Benny Johnson at Florida rally
President Trump on Friday said the Republicans would be “very happy” if failed Vice President and presidential candidate Kamala Harris ran for President in 2028, though he noted he doesn’t think she will even try.
“I heard just a little while ago she was leading the Democrats fairly substantially. I would say that we’d be very happy if she were the candidate, but who knows?” Trump said during an interview with Benny Johnson on the sideline of his Daytona Beach, Florida midterm rally on Friday.
“I don’t think it’s going to happen, but it might. You never know.”
Trump further pointed to the Republican Party and his expectations for the midterm elections on Tuesday
“We’re going to be very strong. We have a very, very good group of people. I think we’re going to have a very powerful— This party is getting better and better all the time. We’re going to be very, very powerful, very strong. The country is doing better than it’s ever done. There’s never been a time like it,” he said.
“You see the crowds. Look at the crowd inside. There’s never been crowds like that for a midterm election. So, a lot of good things are happening. I think we’re going to have a great Tuesday.”

This comes as a new poll shows Kamala Harris leading in a hypothetical presidential primary with 34% of support among Democrats.
Gavin Newsom trails far behind in second place with 20%, and Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is in third with 11%.
And Harris is out previewing her Democratic Socialists of America-aligned 2028 platform, which includes packing the Supreme Court.
During a recent interview with the “My Body. My Pod.” podcast, Harris called for expansion of the Supreme Court to 13 Justices.
“We also need to take a critical look at the Electoral College, fight for statehood for Puerto Rico and D.C.,” she added.
