President Trump on 60 Minutes

President Trump has indicated that further changes to his administration could be coming following the Republican Party’s heavy losses in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

In an interview with CBS News’ 60 Minutes, Trump confirmed that he was considering replacing some senior officials.

Asked whether he intended to fire anyone following the election results, Trump replied: “I do.”

“A little bit,” he continued. “I love my Cabinet. I think they’re good, but I’ll be doing maybe a few changes.”

“I don’t want to mention who.”

The remarks came shortly before Trump announced that White House Chief of Staff Susie Wiles would be leaving her position, with his longtime adviser and known immigration hawk Stephen Miller taking over.

“Susie Wiles, who has done an outstanding job, will be moving over to the Trump Political Operation,” Trump wrote on Truth Social.

“I want to thank her for her service as Chief of Staff — She has done a great job!”

“Susie has done a very good job. Great job,” he said. “We’ve got to make moves sometimes.”

The president also expressed confidence in Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth, who vengeful Democrats are already planning to impeach.

Asked whether he continued to support Hegseth, Trump responded: “I do.”

Trump subsequently played down the prospect of a sweeping overhaul amid a deluge of media reports about his plans for the remainder of his term.

“We have a great cabinet,” he added.
