by FRED PAWLE – ELEVEN years ago this week, Malcolm Turnbull sowed the seeds of Australia’s destruction. His successors have been happy to finish the job.
It has been 11 years this month since Turnbull and his mutinous crew took control of the good ship Australia and steered it away from relatively placid waters into a storm that has threatened to sink the country ever since.
- By knifing Tony Abbott, Turnbull promised a new style of leadership that “respects the people’s intelligence”.
- Their supposed lack of intelligence in electing Abbott in the first place notwithstanding.
- Australia is for Australians. Anyone who disagrees should “pack their bags and piss off”.
Turnbull had eight key co-conspirators: Arthur Sinodinos, Mitch Fifield, Scott Ryan, James McGrath, Wyatt Roy, Mal Brough, Peter Hendy and Julie Bishop.
Like all mutineers, their treachery did them no favours. Three of them (Roy, Brough and Hendy) didn’t even survive the election the following year.
GONE
Four more (Bishop, Sinodinos, Fifield and, of course, Turnbull himself) were gone by 2019.
They should consider themselves lucky.
Their Roman counterparts who knifed Julius Caesar in 44BC mostly wound up dying in horrifyingly violent circumstances or killing themselves, which are more apt fates.
Turnbull’s statements this week 11 years ago sounded pretentious even then.
Tony Abbott, the Prime Minister, wasn’t capable of “providing the economic leadership our nation needs,” he said.
By knifing Abbott, Turnbull promised a new style of leadership that “respects the people’s intelligence” – their supposed lack of intelligence in electing Abbott in the first place notwithstanding.
Turnbull wanted us to imagine the crisis of Abbott’s leadership was similar in scale to British Prime Minister Neville Chamberlain floundering in the face of an imminent attack by the German Luftwaffe in May 1940.
He, like Churchill, was the reluctant leader stepping up to rescue the nation in its time of need.
In reality, he came across as a Walter Mitty-like character whose many grandiose delusions included one day running the nation.
Unlike Mitty, though, the peculiarities of the Australian political system actually gave Turnbull an opportunity to do so, much to the perennial regret of most Australians.
Being Prime Minister was just the beginning. Turnbull’s biggest fantasy was Snowy Hydro 2.0.
This is a massive project that was supposed to use renewable energy to pump millions of litres of water uphill through a network of 10m-wide tunnels beneath the Snowy Mountains, then generate electricity when the water flowed back down.
HARE-BRAINED
Turnbull waited until eight months after the 2016 election – the only election he faced as Prime Minister – before springing this hare-brained idea on an unsuspecting nation and pushing it through as his personal grand legacy.
Again, so much for the “people’s intelligence”.
He promised it would cost only $2b and start generating electricity four years later, in 2021.
Its total cost so far is $1b and it will probably wind up costing more than $20b, and the most likely starting date, if ever, is 2032.
No government since then has had the balls to shelve the project, even though the federal government is now more than $1,000,000,000,000 in debt.
The way the country is going, the only use for the Snowy tunnels will be when a future Islamic government in Canberra uses them to hide Hamas’ weapons and hostages – their original tunnels in Gaza by then having been blown to bits by the more resolute Israeli government.
Turnbull’s other shibboleths – that only the elite ruling class is smart enough to run the country, that multiculturalism is a strength and that subservience to globalists is better than national sovereignty – have also remained conspicuously intact in Canberra since he left.
People like me secretly thought that Turnbull becoming Prime Minister was, to put it mildly, the precise moment when Australia’s legendarily long run of luck.
SECURED
Our luck began way back in 1943 when the US finally secured the upper hand against the Japanese in the Pacific during World War II.
For the first time since then, the odds of ordinary Australians being able to recover from whatever their government inflicted on them went from likely to a despondent unlikely.
Turnbull’s ascension happened at the same time that our society also became too fragmented, our culture too diluted, legal system too complex, school curriculum too pessimistic, taxes too high (and getting higher), productivity too low, industry too moribund and political standards too stupid.
Anyone with common sense knew the nation would never regain the freedom and prosperity anyone aged over 40 could remember from their childhood.
The main fear Turnbull and his co-conspirators had 11 years ago, apart from the fear of Abbott excluding them from Cabinet positions, was that climate change would cause planet Earth to explode.
They don’t know half of it. We conservative realists scoff at climate change not only because it’s a scam dreamed up by climate grifters, but because there are far more tangible reasons to be pessimistic.
And now those reasons are becoming undeniable.
The other major anniversary this month was 9/11, which should have been a wake-up call for the West 25 years ago; instead, it ushered in an era of mass delusion, led by politicians, that Islam is a religion of peace.
They pushed that the best way to appease the seemingly endless anger of Muslims is to let them settle en masse into our suburbs. The reality isn’t quite so rosy.
This week, the French and British governments colluded to facilitate the arrival of hundreds of military-age African men at various British ports.
Gangs of ordinary Britons, tired of the endless violence, rape and murder being perpetrated by this demographic of “immigrants”, blocked them, which put the putative conservative media in a tail spin.
CHILLING
Accustomed to slandering patriots as “far-Right” racists, newspapers like The Telegraph in London instinctively called the masked patriots “chilling and unacceptable”.
Nigel Farage of Reform, supposedly the PM in waiting, said the use of balaclavas was “disgusting”.
Mind you, they are not as disgusting as hundreds of thousands of British girls being raped, tortured and in some cases murdered by men from a criminal network of mostly Pakistani immigrant.
This migrant bloc is so huge and so barbaric that they make the Kray twins look like a couple of amateur pickpockets.
Farage is such a part of the Westminster machine now that he can spin such lines with calculated confidence.
The political and media establishment in Britain and Australia are placing most of their bets on the majority of normies not realising that the men in balaclavas are the good guys.
In Britain, any passing mention of the increasingly problematic “immigrant” situation is careful not to mention Rupert Lowe’s Restore Party, which promises to expel all hostile aliens and prosecute the officials who engineered their invasion in the first place.
The media’s determined marginalisation of Restore has ensure it is, and will probably remain, a fringe party.
Lowe’s Australian counterpart is Pauline Hanson, whose One Nation Party is now the most popular in the country, thanks to Hanson’s consistent message for decades.
Australia is for Australians, she has always said, and anyone who disagrees should “pack their bags and piss off”.
The odds of One Nation assuming government are low, however, only because PM Anthony Albanese and his Immigration Minister Tony Burke have been flooding the nation with Labor-voting Third World peasants ever since being elected in 2022.
The same strategy has worked in New York, where Muslim socialist Zohran Mamdani used the migrant vote to become the city’s mayor, and is so entrenched now that he is the Democrat Party’s new kingmaker.
In the Swedish election earlier this month, the anti-immigration Sweden Democrat Party suffered its first decline in popularity in its history, winning only 18 per cent of the vote. (Sweden, by the way, is now more famous for rapes than it is for Volvos and ABBA.)
Should Labor win the next election in Australia, the process that began this week 11 years ago will have reached its logical conclusion, and Australia will be finished as a country.PC
