AUSTRALIA owes much to the late Prince Philip, who was born about a hundred years ago on a dining room table in Corfu, prior to being smuggled out of Greece in a fruit crate. His parents were dysfunctional, his family had to live in exile, they had no money, and practicably speaking he became an orphan at a young age after his mother was scheduled and his father (who was a poor type) basically abandoned him and eloped with a series of mistresses.
THE Deep State of NSW is getting deeper by the day. And it seems those in power are not even trying to hide it. In what should now be called the COVID State – new number plates are clearly needed between the Murray and the Tweed – the political class is tightening the screws and turning up the dial.
DUTCH PM Mark Rutte has told Hungary it had “no business being in the European Union anymore” after it banned the promotion of homosexuality to children. Mr Rutte’s outburst followed the Hungarian parliament’s adoption of legislation that bans the depiction or promotion of homosexuality among children younger than 18 years of age.
CLIMATE scaremongering by the political class has come back to bite Australia, with the UN demanding billions more be spent “saving” an otherwise perfectly healthy Great Barrier Reef. With federal Environment Minister Sussan Ley constantly pushing the climate panic button over the reef, the UN has reacted accordingly, placing the World Heritage-listed wonder on its “in danger” list.
PRIME Minister Scott Morrison is sometimes unkindly labelled “Scotty from Marketing” in reference to his earlier career. But his – and Australia’s – ability to “sell” a reputation for excellence in COVID management has suddenly taken a dive. Mind you, Australia’s acquisition of this reputation for “pandemic management” has always been somewhat of a mystery.
LIBERAL governments have been so overrun by activist MPs they’re incapable of protecting Australian children from “abusive” indoctrination. Critical race theory, gender fluidity, climate alarmism and renewables propaganda is now awash through Australian education, government departments and corporations while current-crop Liberal parliamentarians either cheer – or stay fearfully silent.
DEPUTY Prime Minister Barnaby Joyce has stated that Australia “absolutely” needs more coal-fired power stations into the future. In a departure from the anti-coal stance of so many in federal parliament – including Left-wing Liberal MPs Jason Falinski, Warren Entsch and Dave Sharma – Mr Joyce has placed coal-fired power firmly back on the national agenda.
EARLIER this month there was an important presentation by prominent Sydney silk Margaret Cunneen SC. She was speaking at The Presumption of Guilt Conference run by the Rule of Law Education Centre. As many know, Ms Cunneen is a woman with impeccable credentials to comment on the criminal justice system. She has spent well over 30 years at the coalface, decades as a crown prosecutor convicting some of our most prominent rapists and other villains and then, as a commissioner in charge of a large child abuse investigation.
IF YOU listen to two of the ABC’s Sydney radio stations, national and local, they regularly report a 1°C difference in the city’s temperature. But at noon on Saturday June 19, one station declared it was 15°C, immediately followed by the other saying it was 12°C, without any of those qualifications about this being how it felt.
