WITH Labor in the throes of a climate civil war, a frantic Zali Steggall is demanding Left-wing Liberals back her radical push for renewable energy – and help salvage her political career while at it.
The global warming obsessed Warringah MP has targeted Malcolm Turnbull acolytes Jason Falinski, Tim Wilson and Dave Sharma in an attempt to revive her failing single-issue agenda.
Her proposed legislation for net zero emissions that she’d hoped to introduce this year has foundered forcing a delay while she searches for new alliances.
MODERN
Ms Steggall said self-described “modern” Liberals who ignored climate change did so “at their peril” and should consider crossing the floor.
“So-called ‘modern’ Liberals should put the interests of their electorate first and consider crossing the floor,” she told The Guardian earlier this year.
While her single-policy approach worked in Ms Steggall’s favour during her 2019 election victory over former prime minister Tony Abbott, she’s now desperately gasping for relevance as climate plummets to a third-order issue.
In a Twitter barrage last month she attempted to shame Prime Minister Scott Morrison over his pro-manufacturing stance.
“The Coalition’s plan to use gas to stimulate manufacturing will fail,” she wrote in hope.
“Two-thirds of voters would prefer Coalition [to] support renewables rather than new gas plants but do you think the PM cares?” she tweeted, quoting figures from the Malcolm Turnbull-inspired Guardian website.
“No strong opposition from Labor means no accountability.”
SOARING
Ms Steggall is increasingly sounding like a lame duck MP scrambling to find relevance.
Prime Minister Morrison, whose popularity is soaring, has made it clear that employment – manufacturing in particular – was his priority.
“If you’re not for gas, you’re not for manufacturing jobs,” he said last week.
Labor has also abandoned its climate obsession with Party elder Graham Richardson declaring that climate change politics is “dead”.
The ALP head kicker said in August that the Australian economy now faced more important challenges.
“I don’t think we can chase up that rat hole now – we’ve got others to chase,” he told Sky News.
EXAGGERATED
“We’ve got real problems and, if you’ll pardon the pun, global warming goes on the back burner for some time now.”
Mr Richardson, who served as Environment Minister under former Prime Minister Bob Hawke, aired his views as federal Labor MPs publicly battled over climate policies – and for the “soul of the Party”.
Leading the charge against Labor’s radicalised environmental wing is Shadow Resources Minister Joel Fitzgibbon, who claimed job numbers flowing from renewable energy had been “exaggerated”.
Mr Fitzgibbon said increasing gas production would be essential to create manufacturing jobs. He also talked up the use of carbon-capture and storage to keep younger coal-fired power stations running.PC
It’s ironic, isn’t it?
Zali’s claim to fame is as a skier, and now her political career is going downhill fast.
Great news … Zali is a narcissist and couldn’t care about anyone but herself, so she won’t be missed and she deserves to be dismissed after her beastly deals to get Tony Abbott knocked out of the race.
He is the only honest person in our Government that really cares about the northern beaches and also our country and our indigenous people.
He needs to be back in parliament to protect our country from the ignorant greens and climate change ratbags, who obviously never learned about how the planet works.
The education system has gone down the toilet over the last 30 years.
They don’t seem to teach Geography, Geology, Biology and the way CO2 and Oxygen is created…thanks to trees and us breathing out …duh!!
I despair !!!
There I have said my piece!!
Zali does nothing for the people of Warringah. Her election was a con job.
I don’t blame anyone for pursuing a seat in parliament , a bit of fame , an easy game , and a free ride for life. Who cares what “drum” you beat !
I could see Zali having success with Sharma and Falinsky( Turncoat appointees) but Tim Wilson with his IPA background would be harder.
What is important is that all patriots must join a political party and get active. The traitors in the Liberal party need to be flushed out and One Nation needs to get stronger to be able to exert influence just as we have seen the Greens leading Labor policy. John Howard did Australia a deep disservice by directing Tony Abbott to attack Pauline Hanson
For the West to survive, this woke lunacy has got to end. One can only hope, more conservative governments will be elected to shine a light on all the lies and turn back the years of propaganda peddled by main stream media and the tax payer funded ABC .
Relax Frank, there’s always Jacinda, who can don her headscarf once again and save us all from doom…
Yes Sean & Trevor, all so true!
It always takes the ridiculous ‘change for change’s sake’ luvvies in an electorate some time to figure out that nothing gets done if they elect an impotent ‘Independent’ – (and especially a one-track, outdated ‘climate’ obsessive) – to represent them!
Let’s hope that our Grand Old Party, the Liberal Conservative Party, nominates a super- man or woman- to vigorously and competently take the reins after the next election!
Surely the Left can see the writing on the wall…. their Green Left Globalism from the 1970’s , is on its way out.. The passing of US Supreme Court RBG, will see our closest alley, removing Same Sex Marriage, Abortion and mandatory Corona Virus Vaccines. The New World Order has fallen, and so will Zali.
