Erika Kirk, widow of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk, has responded to Dave Chappelle and Jennifer Welch turning her husband’s assassination into a comedic punchline without naming them directly.
Charlie Kirk, the founder of Turning Point USA, and father to their two young children, was shot and killed while speaking at a campus event in Utah last year.
To see leftist podcasters, comedians, and commentators laugh about political assassination as though it’s entertainment and the destruction of a human life is a punchline, is beyond disgusting.
My husband, Charlie Kirk, was killed in an act of political violence, something our two children and I will live with every day for the rest of our lives.
A culture that laughs at assassination is one of profound moral decay. It threatens the very foundation of our country and the principles that hold our democracy together.
You do not have to agree with someone’s politics to recognize the value of their life. This should not be so hard.
Political violence must never be something this country tolerates, excuses, or celebrates.

In an episode of the “I’ve Had It” podcast hosted by Jennifer Welch and Angie “Pumps” Sullivan on Thursday, the pair read social media posts celebrating Democrat gains in the midterm election.
One post stated, “We’re digging up Charlie Kirk and doing it again.”
Both hosts dissolved into laughter that lasted nearly 30 seconds.
Welch said, “No comment.”

Jennifer Welch can’t control her laughter after reading a tweet that says, “We’re digging up Charlie Kirk and doing it again.” Welch is a raging case of cluster B psychopathology. An avatar for contemporary Leftism. Anger, antagonism, petulance. This is grotesque. https://t.co/GbAyx2rt5v

The segment was later cut from the episode.
Another THREE more companies just dropped Jennifer Welch:

We’re up to 19 companies now. We don’t ask for political agreement, but we must draw the line at endorsing, condoning, justifying, or glorifying political violence. https://t.co/HFiTjXIXS4

On Saturday, Welch and Sullivan issued a joint “apology,” after losing tons of their show’s sponsors, that read, “On Thursday’s show, we laughed at a joke about Charlie Kirk. It was an insensitive joke, and we should not have laughed. We regret it, and we apologize. Whatever our political differences, there is nothing funny about gun violence.”
I’ve Had It podcast issues smug “apology” as show sponsors flee after hosts Jennifer Welch and Angie Sullivan couldn’t stop giggling at the thought of digging up Charlie Kirk’s corpse and killing him a 2nd time.
Cash App, Chewy, and others have stopped sponsoring the show.
Pathetic “apology” and it’s a shame companies are still supporting this show.

Separately, comedian Dave Chappelle told a sold-out Madison Square Garden crowd during his “Karmageddon” tour that he has felt better since Kirk’s murder.
Chappelle stated, “I feel f-cked up saying this. It’s scary being a public speaker. And I mean, look, ever since that guy Charlie Kirk got murdered … and I shouldn’t say this publicly, but I feel better. I know I shouldn’t say that, but it’s just a feeling. I didn’t ask to feel this way. I just be driving around like, ‘why am I in such a good mood?’”

The line drew demented laughter and applause.
Charlie Kirk had publicly defended Chappelle in 2022 after the comedian was attacked on stage by a man objecting to his jokes about the transgender community.
