Mr Joyce and the former NSW Liberal MP attended a Bush Summit 2024 panel held in Orange, NSW, last week.
Mr Joyce told the summit that wind couldn’t sustain Australia’s energy requirements.

“Please don’t call it renewable,” he said. “It is intermittent power and there is not a major economy in the world that relies on it.
“We woke up one day with swindle factories all over our land, so called wind towers to become future land fill.
“What have we done to poor people in poor towns? We’ve made it so they can’t afford their power bills.
“We’ve humiliated them, we’ve made them poorer, we’ve dragged them down.
“And, at a time when our nation should becoming as powerful as possible, we are making our nation powerless.”
Mr Joyce said Australia’s entire energy supply shouldn’t be put into jeopardy by an untested Leftist ideology.
“I’ll give you an example. Go to Alice Springs, 25,000 people, no heavy industry, lots of sun and wind.
“See if you can make it work there before you inflict it upon our whole damn nation.”
Matt Kean’s response was typical climate catastrophe spin, citing studies and recommendations by government-funded scientists, economists and engineers.

“The CSIRO, the best scientists, an organisation, an institution, the best economists – respected institution – say differently,” he said.
“So we should be making this debate about economics and engineering and not ideology. That’s what energy policy should be all about.
“The facts are these that the reality is that the cheapest way of delivering reliable energy is firmed renewables.
“That’s not me saying it, that’s the CSIRO, one of our most trusted institutions, and the engineers who run our energy system.
“We either believe the experts or we don’t – and I’m for the experts.”
Mr Joyce snapped back at Mr Kean’s disconnection from reality.

Queensland MP Robbie Katter has introduced a bill to ensure the rights of babies born alive in his state. It’s a crucial step, which means the duty of a registered health practitioner to provide medical care and treatment to a person born as a result of termination would be no different from their duty to anybody else.

Australia and New Zealand propose new law scrapping GMO labeling requirements on food
Researcher Kate Mason is warning that Australia and New Zealand’s food authority, FSANZ, has proposed amendments to its current Food Standards Code that would see gene-edited foods being deregulated and labels disappearing altogether, leaving consumers who seek real food in the dark about the true origins of the products being sold in supermarkets there.
Mason wrote: “FSANZ asserts that genetically edited food is the same as natural-conventional food, that it has the same “characteristics.” Under this definition, lab meat may be seen as the same as meat, as the lab meat has added synthetic vitamins and minerals which match the natural levels of vitamins and minerals in meat.”
She also cautioned that the move could ultimately result in the worldwide processed food industry self-regulating gene-edited food, putting everyone at risk of unknowingly consuming engineered “foods.”
GeneEthics Director Bob Phelps echoed Mason’s warning, cautioning that the new definitions of “gene technology” and “food produced using gene technology” would mean that the gene-modified organisms and chemicals that are used in producing synthetic food would be exempt from regulations. In fact, the food industry would not even be required to inform FSANZ that it used the technology.

Twitter fulfilling more government censorship requests under Musk
Twitter has complied at least partially with 98.8 percent of takedown requests under Elon Musk’s ownership, data shows.
Corynne McSherry, legal director of the digital rights group Electronic Frontier Foundation, said the development was cause for concern.
“As Twitter’s own previous reports and actions show, government takedown requests are frequently legally flawed or improper, and even lawful requests may conflict with international freedom of expression principles,” McSherry told Al Jazeera.
“And while many have abandoned Twitter, it remains a powerful and important platform internationally, particularly for journalists and human rights defenders,” she said. “Further, if Twitter is complying so quickly with takedown requests, one has to wonder what other government requests Twitter is fulfilling without protest.”
The rise in government takedowns follows a series of shakeups Musk has undertaken at Twitter, including slashing the workforce by 80 percent to around 1,500 employees and axing the company’s entire human rights team.
Twitter has also shuttered many of its regional offices, including in India, where the administration of Prime Minister Narendra Modi has introduced sweeping measures to regulate the internet and social media.
Twitter has not published an internal transparency report on government removal requests since July, and data has instead been collected through automatic submissions from Twitter to the Lumen database.
Jyoti Panday, a researcher at the Internet Governance Project at the Georgia Institute of Technology, said business concerns at Twitter appeared to be taking precedence over human rights.
“Elon came in and disbanded a lot of crucial teams that were spread out across the world,” Panday told Al Jazeera.
“Users have the right to be heard, and they are approaching the platform to say, ‘Can you put back our content? We can prove it’s not illegal and not unlawful content. I’m well within my rights,’ but those mechanisms that would be in place to judge … have been completely disbanded, and there’s no response she said.

His factual and unflattering analysis of traditional Aboriginal religion contrasted with Christianity was falsely reported to the Queensland Human Rights Commission as “vilification and humiliation” of an individual because of his race and religion.
The QHRC has accepted the complaint and is compelling Dave to attend conciliation hearings, with further judgements against him possible if he doesn’t publicly apologise for preaching the Gospel as he did and undergo re-education in Aboriginal suffering.
The increasingly evident problem is a society and legal systems which nurture easily offended citizens to quickly choose lawfare, the weaponisation of the grievance industry to punish uncomfortable, unapproved opinions. Para-judicial bureaucrats are creating victims of innocent, usually defenceless people.
It’s time to urgently intervene in injustice.
