Multiculturalism isn’t ending well

by FRED PAWLE – ONLY a fool would think that what’s happening on the streets of France right now won’t happen everywhere else soon.

“Now is not ze time for reading and writing,” a conservative French patriot told me over breakfast in London this morning. “Now is ze time to fight.”

Multiculturalism has welcomed in hordes of people whose idea of fun is to roam in packs smashing property, lobbing bricks at police, stealing things they don’t need and attacking people they don’t know.

I gently asked him to elaborate.

“I will tell you,” he said with a smile. A friend in the US had offered to send him a Glock pistol to his home in Paris, where he was returning later today.

SHOOTING

The idea of going armed onto the streets of Paris amused him. “Start shooting and you will solve ze problem in minutes,” he said.

He was, of course, being facetious. Even if such a parcel could be delivered, there was no incentive to restore order to the streets this way. Even the police know that.

In 2023, an officer identified as “Florian M” shot and killed Nahel Merzouk, 17, who was driving a Mercedes car and refused to pull over. Florian was initially charged with murder (now reduced to manslaughter), and is awaiting trial.

The French judicial system is more concerned with Merzouk’s (sadly posthumous) human rights than it is with maximising the ability of the gendarmerie to maintain law and order in the very society upon which the judicial system relies to survive.

It would be reassuring if the pretentious prosecutors defending Merzouk’s right to ignore instructions from police were uniquely French.

But the same ideologues have taken over almost every prosecutor’s office (and institution) in every other Western liberal democracy in the world.

In France, the people defending the fundamental rights of criminals are devotees of intellectual wankers like Rousseau and Foucault, while their Australian counterparts are petty authoritarians.

They display an instinctive sense of moral virtue and maternal concern for society’s stupidest citizens. Different methods, but identical outcomes regardless.

It has now been decades since the single most commonly touted benefit of multiculturalism – culinary diversity – has been proven wrong.

We never did get streets lined with the world’s various cuisines; instead, we got discrete ethnic ghettos where the restaurant menus are written in foreign languages.

The only white people who are welcome are politicians seeking blocs of votes in return for taxpayer-funded “community centres”.

The flaws of multiculturalism have become increasingly obvious and destructive.

Now in France and elsewhere the ultimate and most destructive flaw has finally been exposed: multiculturalism is a Trojan Horse for people too stupid to understand how the freedom and prosperity unique to the West work.

Western liberal societies were conceived and built by a succession of inspirational, visionary people.

It takes a minimum of intelligence for an ordinary citizen to understand the complexities of free will and mutual responsibility embedded into such a society.

Not to mention the gratitude one should feel for having been born (or migrated) into what is a blissful aberration to most of human history.

Multiculturalism willfully discards this basic expectation from new citizens – and has, instead, allowed in hordes of people whose idea of a fun Saturday night is to roam in packs smashing property, lobbing bricks at police, stealing things they don’t need and attacking people they don’t know.

BARBARIANS

One side is acting like barbarians, the other responds with civilised restraint. This is not going to end well.

My French companion added that even darker forces had capitalised on this social schism.

The Muslim Brotherhood and Qatar had waited all summer to give their sleeper cells in France the green light for this latest uprising, and did so when French socialists started to complain about school funding.

French intelligence services warned the government that such an uprising was imminent, but the authorities’ response was, in typical Gallic style, to shrug their shoulders and ask what they were meant to do about it.

After decades of excessive welfare, low productivity and social fragmentation, they didn’t have the resources to suppress an uprising anyway.

If that sounds alarming, the situation in Britain is worse. In France there are about 277 people per police officer; in England and Wales it is more like 424 (these figures are somewhat vague, but the comparison between the two countries is accurate enough).

If France was ripe for rioting this summer, Britain will be even riper come next spring, when, to borrow from Tennyson, a young illegal migrant man’s fancy lightly turns to thoughts of smashing up the country that welcomed him as a “refugee”.

There is an inevitable lack of will to avert this crisis from the government. Why wouldn’t there be?

OUTNUMBER

They created the problem in the first place by facilitating the arrival and accommodation of the thousands of men who now outnumber the military, and await the sign from head office back in some Middle Eastern shithole to do their worst.

I’m back in London for the first time in three years and it is sad to observe that there is a similar feeling of fatigue and resignation on the streets as well.

Multiculturalism has sucked the life out of this once great city. There are still remnants of what it once was – such as the annual Battle of Ideas (which is why I’m here), and the refreshingly warm pubs that serve refreshingly warm beer.

But, when the sun disappears behind the low-rise council blocks at mid afternoon, the overall impression is of a city full of people with very little in common – and not much to look forward to.

It’s human nature. The more I travel, the more I realise that even when people are vaguely aware that things are getting worse, they simply carry on and hope the worst will happen to someone else.PC

  1. Before the rise of Albo, I had confidence Australia would always recover from the economic damage inflicted by successive Labor governments. Historically, we could always mine our way out of Labor’s pathway to poverty. Now, I’m not so sure. This ALP government has changed our cultural make-up so severely that it appears irreversible without mass deportations. At the same time, it has destroyed the nation’s ability to generate wealth via mining exports.
