Radical Albo’s ‘re-education’ program

PRIME Minister Anthony Albanese is planning a re-education program in an attempt to condition voters to ditch what his government calls a “ridiculous and archaic” constitution.

After 1999’s Republican Referendum drubbing, the Prime Minister has tasked former union organiser and now Assistant Minister for the Republic Matt Thistlethwaite with ensuring the electorate “gets it right” this time.

We’ve got this unique opportunity, with a queen coming to the end of her reign, for us to now lay the groundwork so that when that does happen in the future, we’re ready to go.

Mr Thistlethwaite, in an interview reported in The Sydney Morning Herald last weekend, said Labor’s re-education campaign would explain three things.

“Firstly, that the Queen of England is our Head of State,” he said.

ALTERNATIVE

“Next, that we can have an Australian in that role and [thirdly] that there are alternative models about how we appoint them.

“We’ve got this unique opportunity, with a queen coming to the end of her reign, for us to now lay the groundwork so that when that does happen in the future, we’re ready to go.

“I’ve still got scars of ’99, and am acutely aware of what the pitfalls and dangers are about the republic debate and want to rectify that this time and get it right.”

Mr Thistlethwaite said he hoped Labor’s push for a constitutional republic would unite all Australians.

“There are lots of Liberals and Nationals who are republicans,” he said.

“The big unknown at the moment is Peter Dutton.

“I will meet with him and I’ve had meetings with the Australians for a Constitutional Monarchy and the Australian Monarchist League.

“I want to make this an issue that unites Australians, not divides.”

The National Chair of the Australian Monarchist League Philip Benwell, however, has accused Mr Thistlethwaite of being loose with the truth.

TURN PEOPLE

“He knows full well that there is no such title as ‘the Queen of England’ and is only saying that because he feels it will turn people against the Queen,” Mr Benwell said.

“In Australia, the Queen is Queen of Australia by right of the Australian Constitution, her Coronation oath and Acts of the Parliament,” he said.

“In Britain, she is Queen of the United Kingdom, not ‘England’ alone.”

Mr Benwell said Labor, which had always supported Australia’s constitutional monarchy, had abandon its beliefs in pursuit of power.

PRINCIPLES

“The Crown is the basis of our constitution. It is inorganic in that its tentacles spread throughout our system of governance ensuring that the principles of the Constitution and the Westminster system are upheld,” he said.

“Were the Crown to be removed, it will be replaced by whatever may be determined to form ‘the State’.

“Whereas the principal duty of the Crown is to protect the interests of the people, the new State will act for and be controlled by politicians.” PC

  1. We certainly don’t need that Bogan (Albo) dictating to us what he wants. Whether Australia becomes a republic should be decided by a referendum, not by the Labor party or Albo.

  2. “PRIME Minister Anthony Albanese is planning a re-education program in an attempt to condition voters to ditch what his government calls a “ridiculous and archaic” constitution.”

Very similar to what the original Australian Republican Movement establishment was claiming, that the Constitution must be changed.

But no explanation as to why and what changes they have in mind.

Like the voice, we are asked to trust the politicians, leave it them, just vote Yes ……. no way!

    1. A yes vote to anything the Labor/Greens propose will be the end of democracy in Australia.

  3. ““Today, [the monarchy] symbolizes the refusal of absolute authority.” Nobody else can be the leader of any of our big institutions of state while the Crown is at the helm of all of them. As a result, the Crown is the ultimate and unassailable guarantee of our liberty and genius. Republicans are enraged by the lack of authority that the Crown denies them. They object to the Senate’s ability to obstruct supplies to a rogue government. They are irritated by the Governor-capacity General’s to remove a renegade Prime Minister.”

The monarchy checks the executive’s misuse of authority. One of the reasons Australia has been so stable since its foundation in 1901 is its constitutional check, which allows the monarch to fire the Governor-General and the Governor-General to replace the Prime Minister if these leaders misuse authority or jeopardize Australia’s interests. The sheer possibility of removal deters the Governor-General or Prime Minister from misusing their positions.

Many people in the United States think that President Bush overused his executive powers precisely because there was no check against it (in a word, he could). Some say that this enabled the Iraq War and breaches of individual rights in the name of the War on Terror. The monarchy, as a check on such abuses and ensuing instabilities, is provided under Australia’s constitution.”

  4. Our Constitution was annulled illegally by Whitlam and then, Hawke without due process – that is, a referendum or referenda to allow the people and the states to sanction massive change. Both parties are Globalist in intention and sympathy. They cannot be trusted. The Coalition never opposed the illegal process that saw our Constitution side-lined for a ‘new constitution’ or our new status as a corporation listed on the New York Stock Exchange. The electorate was given no warning of these intentions just as we were given no warning of the current aspirations of these radicals who wish to dismantle our system to consolidate their own.
