Zelensky comes to beg for more money, missiles, equipment – but may return home empty-handed after an earful
To find an end to the Russia-Ukraine war is a Trump objective – but to stabilize oil and diesel markets is a more urgent one.
After nearly two years engaged in high-level efforts to end the bloodiest European war since WW2, US President Donald J. Trump finally lost patience with the shenanigans by Kiev regime leader Volodymyr Zelensky.
Trump has called out Zelensky publicly for striking Russian refineries and destabilizing the fuel market around the world.

“Donald Trump is expected to press Ukrainian leader Volodymyr Zelenskyy on an energy ceasefire during a face-to-face meeting this week during United Nations high-level week, as world diesel prices have soared due to the war in Iran, as well as Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Ukraine stepped up its attacks on Russia’s energy sector over the weekend, launching its largest reported strike yet on the Moscow region in a barrage that struck a major Moscow oil refinery and killed three people.”
“On Monday, Trump said the whole world was suffering due to an energy shortage that he said was being exacerbated by the war in Ukraine. ‘Russia has unfortunately lost control of its Diesel Oil Industry due to its War with Ukraine’, Trump said in a Truth Social post on Monday morning. ‘A large number of their Diesel refineries have been blown up and are, at least temporarily, out of commission’.
‘This ridiculous and never-ending War with Ukraine must be ended’, Trump said. ‘The whole World suffers as 25,000 people, mostly soldiers, are being killed each month. What a shame!’”
Trump and Zelensky will meet on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly
The Telegraph reported:
“The US president put pressure on Mr Zelensky during a phone call before their meeting on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly. He told the Ukrainian leader the attacks were exacerbating a global diesel shortage and causing petrol prices to surge. […] In a call with Mr. Zelensky on Sunday, according to The Financial Times, Mr. Trump pressured the Ukrainian leader to halt Kyiv’s attacks on Russian refineries used to power its war machine.
Ukrainian officials said the president, concerned about the surging price of diesel, urged Mr. Zelensky to halt drone and missile strikes so Russian fuel could reach the global market. Mr. Trump’s message was “diesel, diesel… diesel”, according to one source.”
A source familiar with the Trump-Zelensky call told Axios that Trump repeatedly urged Zelensky to stop Ukrainian strikes on Russian oil refineries, arguing they were pushing up global diesel prices.

“Responding to the president’s statements about diesel, Mr. Zelensky hinted he would stop strikes on Russian refineries if Moscow reined in its air strikes against Ukraine. He said: ‘Ukraine’s energy sector, critical infrastructure, and our food exports must stop being targets for Russia, and this will lead to matching de-escalation steps. Solutions are possible’.
‘We are ready to work on this, and we will discuss it with our partners on the sidelines of the UN General Assembly in New York’.”
