Historian and senior fellow at the Hoover Institution, Victor Davis Hanson, was on Newsmax‘s Bianca Across the Nation with host Bianca de la Garza to discuss President Trump’s options now that he does not have a majority in Congress.
Hanson cited past presidents’ actions involving the use of executive orders and foreign policy, including military actions.
A clip of Florida Governor Ron DeSantis was shown from CNN. He was explaining the challenges for a Republican President in light of the major losses the Republican Party sustained in the midterm election on Tuesday.
“I’m pleased right now to bring him into the program, Victor Davis Hanson, senior fellow at the Hoover Institution,” Bianca said.
“I also think Governor DeSantis maybe is tailoring some of this to some 2028 aspirations. How about you?” Bianca asked.
“Ya, I think he is right and he has a lot of credibility,” Hanson said.
“It was the only one that really saved the governorship and the Senate. The Senate spot,” Hanson said of Florida.
“He is a very credible critic,” Hanson continued.
“They can do a lot with foreign policy and with executive orders,” Hanson said.
“As President Trump is now looking at this, there is a lot he can do. What should he do?” Bianca asked.
“What do you think would be the best course of action?” Bianca asked.
“I think he needs to tell them, that’s it. We are gonna recognize a government in exile. We are going to go in there and finish the job of denuclearization with Pickax Mountain. We are gonna do some more, and we are gonna go home, and we are gonna keep a group there to keep the Strait open. Keep the sanctions to squeeze them, ” Hanson said of the Iran conflict.
“And then domestically, I do think corruption was an issue,” Hanson said.
Hanson explained that President Trump should say to Congress that no one in his administration should profit or do business in the Middle East. Also, no member of Congress should buy or sell securities until two years after leaving office.
