THE two political Parties pushing the nation’s most radical climate policies have been all but wiped out in last week’s Western Australian election.
The Greens lost 75 per cent of its parliamentary representation while a confused Liberal Party shed 85 per cent of its seats.
- Greens lost 75% of its representation while a confused Liberal Party shed 85%.
- Both the Liberal leader and The Greens leader were booted from parliament.
- Liberal blames "stupid greener-than-the-Greens energy thing" for annihilation.
The loss was so bad for the Liberals that, with only two remaining seats, it’s been replaced as WA’s official opposition by its “junior” coalition partner, The Nationals. The Libs received only 21.5 per cent of the vote after preferences.
The Greens, who’s leader Alison Xamon lost her seat, have been stranded with only one seat, shedding three upper house positions to Labor.
The Liberal’s astounding lurch to the Left, however, has largely been ignored by delusional WA Liberals as they scramble for any other excuse.
EXTINCTION
Instead, they’ve turned their guns on Christians for the Party’s near extinction experience.
Former Liberal WA Premier Colin Barnett, who oversaw a 16 per cent swing against the Party in his 2017 loss, said conservative Christians were half the problem.
He said the influence of religious conservatives along with Party powerbrokers had alienated voters.
“We had candidates with strange histories and strange ideas, and that discredited the whole Party,” Mr Barnett said.
“The whole process of selecting and checking out members and candidates is the first reform that has to happen.”
His successor as WA Liberal leader Mike Nathan agreed.
The now-retired politician said too many Young Liberals and Christians were getting in.
“We are getting young kids and people whose affiliation is with the church. We are not going out looking for business people, corporate people, 40-somethings who have run a business, paid a bill or made a decision,” Mr Nathan said.
STUPIDEST
Disagreement, however, has been aired by one of the few Liberals to retain his seat.
Mr Steve Thomas MLC said the Party needed to rebuild itself and to refocus on its founding principles.
“Instead we had this incredibly stupid greener-than-the-Greens energy thing,” Mr Thomas said.
“It was the stupidest policy ever released by the Party.”
Shortly prior to last Saturday’s March 13 election, then WA Liberal leader Zac Kirkup split with Prime Minister Scott Morrison, announcing net zero carbon emissions a full 20 years earlier than Labor’s economy-wrecking target.
The plan would have seen half that State’s coal fired power stations close by 2025 including WA’s biggest power generator Muja with a capacity of 854 MW. Nearby Collie power station was also targeted for closure, withdrawing another 300MW of supply.
The announcement drew harsh criticism from Labor as well as Federal Energy Minister Angus Taylor and residents of Collie, where the doomed power stations are located.
RADICAL
Mr Kirkup lost his parliamentary seat in last Saturday’s wash-up and has retired from politics.
His radical policy agenda flew in the face of a growing mountain of polling data indicating that climate change is a 10th order issue.
An opinion poll taken shortly after Queensland’s October 2020 State election confirmed that climate issues rated second to last among voters.
According to a JWS survey, 95 per cent of centre-Left voters couldn’t care less about climate issues, ranking jobs, affordable energy, COVID response and border security as far more important.
Among centre-Right voters – who traditionally support the Liberal National Party – the divide is even greater with only two in a hundred rating climate change as an election issue.
The survey had been a wake-up call to extremist politicians pursuing their pet climate projects at the expense of their communities.
Unfortunately, it was missed by WA’s woke Liberals.PC
Can the REAL LIBERAL party get RID of that IDIOT GREEN KEAN ??!!
Morrison appealed to the “silent Australian” in the hope he and his government would do or try to do something about the cancel culture, woke rubbish, creeping into our lives. Also of concern was the climate change rubbish and the associated waste of our money on continuing to support destructive solar and wind, at the eventual cost of our electricity security – not to mention higher cost. Instead he has believed it was clever to have this National cabinet rubbish, which has turned the State leaders into the ones running the country and shown his inability to control them – time after time. That is his biggest mistake that will cost the quiet Australians a decent government – maybe not the best, but streets ahead of anything labor could come up with. I fear for my future and any chance of financial independence under labor. Watch another trillion $ debt come onto the books if they are elected and they increase everyones take home money on debt – just look at the hopeless governments run by this mob in Queensland and Victoria and how far in debt they are, AND watch them sell us out completely to China – I fear reason will not enter this argument, with people so easily led by lefties in the media dominating their thinking
‘Morrison appealed to the “silent Australian” in the hope he and his government would do or try to do something about the cancel culture, woke rubbish, creeping into our lives.’
So what has the bogan from the Shire done about section 18C of the anti-discrimination act? Exactly nothing. That’s because he is beholden to the many socialists in the parliamentary wing of the so-called “Liberal” party, and he cares more about his job at the top of the greasy pole than he does about this country or its people. My forebears fought and bled and died to make this country great and keep it free, and those of Morrison’s ilk spit on their graves as they parade around in nice suits and mouth platitudes that are as empty and meaningless as they are grandiose.
When will the voters of Australia realise that they have been conned? When will they stop voting for “Labor”, “Liberals”, and the “Greens”?
