House Minority Leader Hakeem Jeffries (D-NY) on Sunday tried to dodge a question about impeachment during an interview on CNN’s State of the Union with host Jake Tapper.
Instead, he went on a word salad about “accountability,” suggesting that House Democrats will lead investigations, then “let the chips fall where they may.”
“We haven’t ruled anything in, and we haven’t ruled anything out in terms of impeachment,” he said.
“As it relates to accountability, what we’re going to do, led by Jamie Raskin and House Committee Democrats on the Judiciary Committee, as well as House Democrats on the Oversight Committee, led by Robert Garcia — both of them are doing a tremendous job — we’ve got to follow the facts, apply the law, be guided by the Constitution, and then let the chips fall where they may.”
In other words: Yes, the Democrats are going to pursue impeachment starting on day one.

Everyone knows of their plans to impeach, but they won’t just flat-out admit it.
This comes after Jamie Raskin (D-MD), similarly, attempted to dodge the question of whether Democrats will pursue impeachment last week, saying, “It’s not a fetish with us.”
“Look, everybody on our side understands that impeachment is a critical tool in the toolbox for constitutional self-defense against a president acting like a king, an imperious, lawless, arrogant king,” he said, adding, “We will not hesitate to use it if we need to use it.”
He then said the quiet part out loud, skipping the investigation and claiming that Trump has “undoubtedly” committed impeachable offenses.
