President Trump told reporters that he plans to visit a newly arrived oil tanker from Venezuela, carrying a million barrels of crude, in Port Arthur, Texas, on Tuesday.
Trump’s stop in Port Arthur, which was not previously on his public schedule, comes as he is scheduled to speak at two midterm rallies in Corpus Christi and Lubbock, Texas. “I think it’s a third stop, basically,” Trump said.
Asked if he plans to attend the showcase for the tanker today, Trump said, “I believe we are, yeah.”
“We took over Venezuela very successfully, and they’ve sent me as a gift a boatload of a million barrels of oil, and I’m giving that to the United States of America,” he added.
On whether Secretary of State Marco Rubio will be there too, Trump said, “I think so. Yes.”
He continued, “We’re going to accept a million barrels of oil, and I’m going to give it to you people to use it the way you want.”
“And we’re going to have oil prices are going to be dropping very sharply, very soon,” Trump said.

The White House announced in August that Trump secured “the biggest oil deal in world history,” giving the United States “majority control of more than 65 billion barrels of proven oil reserves in Venezuela.” Millions of barrels of Venezuelan oil are set to be imported and processed in American refineries.
This comes after US forces forcefully arrested Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro in January.
Trump credited the “Highly Successful Military Operation” for the oil deal in a Truth Social post. “This is just the first shipment of BILLIONS of Barrels to come. By unleashing Energy Dominance from Alaska, all the way down to Venezuela, I have made the Western Hemisphere the Energy Capital of the World,” Trump wrote. “Gasoline and Diesel Prices will soon come plummeting down — JUST WATCH!”

President Donald Trump and Secretary of State Marco Rubio on Tuesday plan to show off a newly arrived oil tanker filled with Venezuelan crude to be processed in Texas refineries, according to a congressional aide and two U.S. officials.
The visit to Port Arthur, Texas, comes on the same day that Trump is campaigning in the state for Republican candidates in the midterms.
The president has rallies scheduled in Corpus Christi and Lubbock. Trump is trying to shore up support for U.S. Senate candidate Ken Paxton, who is locked in a tight race with Democratic candidate James Talarico.
It’s not clear whether Rubio, who also serves as Trump’s national security adviser, would take part in any campaign events. But it’s the first time that he’s hitting the road with Trump as the president barnstorms the country.
