In a post to X on Sunday, the White House stated, “The illegal immigrant population is collapsing,” with an American flag emoji.

“President Donald J. Trump was returned to office with a clear mandate to end the invasion that Democrats allowed to overwhelm communities, drain public resources, and endanger public safety,” the release stated. “In less than two years, the Trump Administration has delivered the largest reduction in the illegal alien population in modern history, driven illegal crossings to an all-time low, and enacted sweeping reforms that finally put American citizens first.”

According to the White House, the illegal alien population has been reduced by at least 2.3 million, with more than three million migrants leaving the country during Trump’s second term.

Nearly 1.2 million illegal aliens have been deported or removed, and nearly 1.3 million illegal alien arrests have been carried out.

The United States recorded negative net migration in 2025 for the first time in at least 50 years.

Catch-and-release was also ended, producing 17 straight months of zero releases at the border and zero Border Patrol releases in Fiscal Year 2026. That makes this year the first fiscal year in U.S. history with no border releases.

Illegal southern border crossings fell 95 percent from Biden-era levels in FY2026, the lowest number of illegal border crossings in American history.

Nationwide encounters are at their lowest in agency history, under 380,000, compared with roughly 2.7 million per year under Biden.

Entries by asylum seekers at U.S.-Mexico entry points have been slashed by 99.9 percent, and asylum is now granted in just 7 percent of cases, down from more than 50 percent under the previous administration.

The administration reinstated the Remain in Mexico policy, expanded third-country removal agreements with dozens of nations, and repurposed the failed Biden-era CBP One app into a self-deportation tool.

The administration has also terminated Temporary Protected Status for 13 countries, including Somalia, Venezuela, and Haiti.

Migration through the Darién Gap collapsed by more than 99 percent.

The Pentagon has created National Defense Areas along the border in New Mexico and Texas, allowing illegal crossers to be charged with trespassing on a military installation.

Customs and Border Protection has reported parallel record-low figures, confirming the administration’s data on the 95 percent drop and the first year with zero releases.

The White House said it has expanded the immigration enforcement workforce, including more than doubling the number of ICE agents.

More than 12,100 gang members have been arrested, including more than 1,500 Tren de Aragua affiliates and nearly 2,000 MS-13 affiliates, along with more than 2,200 known or suspected terrorists, of whom more than 2,000 have been removed.

More than 157,000 unaccompanied alien children lost under the Biden Administration have been found.
