During an interview with reporter Vanessa Kjeldsen on WMTV, Democratic candidate for Wisconsin Secretary of State JoCasta Zamarripa made it very clear what her number one priority is… and it isn’t for the benefit of citizens.
Zamarripa told Kjeldsen that her number-one priority, should she win the election, would be to issue driver’s licenses to undocumented Wisconsinites.
“So I really want to sit down and talk with him a bit about pro-immigration policies that I hope that he’ll be supportive of,” Zamarripa stated.
“And I feel confident he will be. But I just want to have that conversation so I can say it, you know, definitively as I go around the state to talk to Latino Wisconsinites about why, if they have the right to vote, they should be voting for David Crowley on November 3rd.”
Kjeldsen asked, “What would you like to see in Wisconsin?”
Zamarripa replied, “My number one priority is to see the governor sign driver’s licenses for undocumented Wisconsinites into law. And I hope that that governor will be David Crowley.”
Kjeldsen followed up, “And have you heard at all from David Crowley on that specific item or waiting to connect with him?”
Zamarripa answered, “We’re going to talk soon, but I feel confident. I know as a legislator, he was supportive of my— that was my legislation when I was in the State Assembly. I know that he was supportive. I believe that he’ll be supportive as our next governor.”
“But I want to have that conversation to be able to say it definitively. But driver’s licenses for undocumented Wisconsinites is going to improve the public safety of all Wisconsinites, whether they’re 5th generation U.S. citizens or brand new, newly arrived immigrants, because it’s going to mean more folks with a driver’s license driving on our roads, more folks accessing affordable auto— automobile insurance.”
