Trump supporters began lining up more than a day in advance outside McMorran Place in Port Huron, enduring long waits through the night and into Sunday morning for the chance to enter the arena and show their support for gubernatorial candidate John James and U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers. By early Sunday, the line stretched more than a block through downtown as doors were still hours from opening, with thousands of attendees determined to see the President in person. Port Huron City Manager James Freed later reported that about 20,000 people showed up for the event. He called it the “Largest single event in Port Huron history.” The Trump rally filled the hockey arena to capacity and overflowed into the theater, while many more watched on big screens outside after being turned away.

In a live Facebook video, Rob Cortis, creator and owner of the Trump Unity Bridge, which has traveled to 48 states, estimated the crowd waiting to enter the Trump rally at around 30,000.

In sharp contrast, former President Barack Obama drew an estimated crowd of about 4,000 inside Cass Technical High School in Detroit the day before.

The Dishonest Media Couldn’t Even Successfully Coordinate Their Manufactured Attendance Numbers

Even among the two Gannett-owned publications covering the Port Huron rally, there was a notable disparity in the indoor numbers they reported: the Detroit Free Press put the crowd inside McMorran Place at about 3,000, while the Detroit News estimated roughly 5,000. The same parent company owns both outlets, yet they could not agree on a basic headcount for an event that clearly exceeded the venue’s normal capacity and required overflow seating.

President Trump mocked the size of Barack Obama’s rally in Detroit, versus the massive crowd both inside and out of the arena.

The massive turnout in Port Huron underscores that enthusiasm for President Trump remains strong across Michigan, a state he carried in two presidential elections, including the most recent one. While much of the media and Trump’s political opponents continue to downplay his support or suggest it has faded, the long lines, the overflow crowds, and the city manager’s own estimate of 20,000 people paint a different picture—one of sustained grassroots energy for the President and the Republican candidates he is backing.

Trump and his endorsed candidates are loved not only in the Port Huron area, but across Michigan; signs for Republican candidates like Mike Rogers are popping up in areas that have traditionally been Democratic strongholds. If Michigan voters want to save their state, they need to ignore dishonest polls like the one that had Trump losing to both Hillary and Kamala in Michigan and vote to stop the slide to Socialism in Michigan and in the U.S.

Inside the Trump venue, his supporters were excited to see Nicki Minaj, one of America’s most iconic female rappers took the stage to fire up the crowd and encourage them to vote for U.S. Senate candidate Mike Rogers and Republican gubernatorial candidate and U.S. Congressman John James.

Minaj reminded everyone that staying home or not voting for the Trump-endorsed candidates will lead to serious consequences, like sex changes for children. “We don’t want that for our children,” she exclaimed, adding, “Leave our children alone!” Minaj has a 6-year-old boy with her husband Kenneth Petty.

The crowd outside the venue was massive, but several miles away, exit ramps and streets leading from I-94 were also lined with Trump supporters hoping to catch a glimpse of the President as his motorcade made its way to the arena.
