by PAUL COLLITS – THE Liberal National Coalition is on the brink of extinction under Angus Taylor as a new opinion poll suggests losses of up to 30 MPs.
According to the latest News24/YouGov Pulse poll, the Coalition captured just 18 per cent of the primary vote, suggesting it may win fewer than 11 seats – down from 41.
- Yet, they have thrown the kitchen sink at those who support populism.
- Hilariously, none of it has worked!
- These old strategies are now regarded as a big yawn, given that so much is now at stake.
Extinction? No wonder they are soiling themselves.
The establishment is on the run at both ends of the world. Marine Le Pen’s National Rally in France continues on a path towards victory at next year’s Presidential election. Spain is in uproar following the Moroccan invasion of Ceuta.

The AfD in Germany has just scored a major victory in a State election in the former communist east.
They may fall short of an absolute parliamentary majority, but they kicked the arses of all the other Parties, including the Christian Democratic Union (CDU), the Party of Germany’s “centre Right” establishment.
Political pundits are suggesting the CDU may never win another election. They could be referring to the Australian Liberals.
Things aren’t so rosy, however, for the populist Parties in the UK at the moment.
For a range of reasons, and despite the fact that Britain seems to be on the brink of a hot civil war in the face of a foreign invasion, Nigel Farage’s Reform UK seems to have stalled.
Declined, even, according to the latest polls. The Tories are ahead of Reform.
Despite this, most of the punditocracy seems of the view that that there is a populist march across the West. Much of the horror of the establishment.
Which leads us to the strategies and tactics used by the same establishment, across several nations, to bring down the populist insurgents.
Variously, these have included:
- Making opposition to the direction of travel actually illegal, eg banning Parties;
- Trumped up charges against insurgent leaders;
- Assassination attempts and death threats;
- Activation of youth on the streets;
- Character assassination of “far Right”, “divisive”, “anti-democratic”, “extremist” leaders and Parties;
- Claims that insurgent Parties “have no policies”;
- Contradictory claims that their policies will destroy democracy;
- Activist journalism and gotcha interviews; and, now,
- Offence archaeology (aka digging for dirt).
The establishment and their fellow travellers have thrown the kitchen sink at those who support populism. It has been a team effort. All hands to the pump. They cannot have the people revolting.
Hilariously, none of it has worked! The reverse march through the democratic institutions continues apace.
Perhaps the old strategies are now regarded as a big yawn, given that so much is now at stake.
Yet, offence archaeology has raised its head once more. In Australia, the latest victim is the Victorian One Nation leader, Warren Pickering.
Quite the colourful past, has Warren. Or, perhaps, on reflection, a pretty normal one.
He has admitted drug use, drink driving and the rest. He has issues with his ex-wife, who seems to have made her own Faustian bargain with the media.
Those in glass houses shouldn’t throw stones.
How many of those going after Pickering were at the front lines calling out senior Labor ministers who are married to convicted drug dealers (Plibersek), or Labor leaders accused of rape (Shorten), or Victorian Premiers who all but killed innocent cyclists in the dark of night (Andrews)?
All pretty seedy.
Warren didn’t rape anyone, as far as I know. He didn’t deal heroine. He didn’t run over cyclists.
I trust that Plibersek will be in the forefront of those chanting “second chances”. We all have our pasts.
The establishment thinks that this crap still works. They seem not to have noticed that all the old rules of politics have been thrown out the window.
The UniParty’s mortal sins are now baked into the minds of 2020s voters. I suspect that the great unwashed and the deplorables among us could not give a rat’s about Warren’s past or private sins.

Nor have we forgotten the sins of the establishment. COVID tyranny, anyone? Destroying the Australian economy? Crushing personal freedom? Selling out our national interests to China and globalist rulers?
We haven’t forgotten.
There is an old Catholic conversation about “bad popes”. There are those who fathered children, but did absolutely no harm to the faithful.
And there are those who have led exemplary personal lives but who are existential threats to the Church through their theological wickedness.
Public corruption beats private corruption, hands down.
Me? I would rather have a personal sinner who is righteously focused, single-mindedly, on resolving our existential political crises. Of which there are plenty.
Let us hope that offence archaeology has had its day.
I just hope Warren Pickering doesn’t give in to the shabby turds who are out to get him.

The Victorian Liberal party is a dead party walking. In an extraordinary interview with Family First leader Lyle Shelton, Mrs Moira Deeming describes the level of wickedness, evil and depravity the Liberal party sank to to get rid of and destroy her. Her crime, to be a white conservative Christian woman whose well known platform was the protection of the rights of women and girls, the Liberal party power brokers, Kennet, Kroger, Napthine, Guy and Pesutto, all losers, hated her with an insane vengeance. Remember, she was pre-selected by her local branch, well known for her views and duly elected. Add to this, poster girl Jess Wilson, a woman, would not stand by another woman for her safety. Brad Battin who 100% supports Victorian police has white washed his mind of the violent criminal behaviour of Vicpol over covid, dumping on colleague Richard Riordan, my local MP, who had his hard drive from his cctv stolen from his office by police thugs during the height of covid tyranny. He complained to the parliament and a joint parliamentary committee found police behaviour bordered on contempt of parliament. It doesn’t get much more damning than that. The Victorian Liberal Party don’t have moral bone in their body, they are a classic example of what Christ called the Pharisees, “white washed walls full of dead man’s bones.

My observation since Abbott is that Labor and Liberal share almost identical fiscal, social and environmental policies – no matter how hard the Libs attempt to differentiate. The truth is that the only difference is their respective times lines. Labor want immediate implementation, while the Libs are delaying very similar policies by a year or two. I think the uniparty label has merit.
The error of judgement by One Nation’s James Ashby, Senator Hanson’s pilot and chief of staff, in May 2026 attacking MP Andrew Hastie appears to have become a problem for One Nation and has revealed again their tiny party of six elected members lack of resources and political judgement, even the RSL is condemning that cartoon video produced for One Nation, listing authorisation by Senator Hanson, by a now One Nation candidate for election in the Victoria State election.
Senator Hanson has apologised to Andrew Hastie and so has MP Joyce, in fact Barnaby Joyce is distancing himself from the cartoon video and allegations against Andrew Hastie.
The cracks have been appearing for a while, examples the Farrer by election claim that Liberal Senator Paterson started a confrontation at a polling place but later the candidate and then Senator Hanson issued apologies to Senator Paterson, but the next day accused him of having initiated the confrontation which is untrue. The candidate had been the subject of posters displayed repeating newspaper published allegations about his earlier Labor Party connections. After being elected he began in Parliament voting with Greens and Teals and displays three flags in his office contrary to One Nation policy.
Then consider the two MPs Farley and Joyce contradicting One Nation and Senator Hanson over forcing non-citizens to sell any property here that they purchased, Joyce said that would be too harsh and any already owning property would not be forced to sell. Later on Immigration MP Farley questioned Senator Hanson’s 130,000 a year intake policy and pointed out the reality of taking all factors into account it would have to be around 230,000 intake. Senator Hanson was not happy.
Over the past thirty years many PHON/ON members have left the party because of the structure and my way or else attitude of the President-Leader. She has an attendance record in the Senate of 53% and has missed voting a number of times, even on bills she opposed on record. Too busy with career politician business maybe?
I have commented a few times my opinion that Barnaby Joyce has the educational qualifications, private sector business experiences and parliamentary experiences that no other One Nation of six elected members can match, he should be Deputy Leader at least. And I suspect he has leadership in mind as he resigned from the National Party after the 2025 election when he was not elected for a third time as their leader. However, Senator Hanson is President and Leader of One Nation and cannot be replaced, when she decides it’s time to go only she can appoint the successor and no democratic members votes permitted.
My point as always is that with getting rid of Labor governments in mind One Nation six being half the elected members compared to the Greens Party and only 6% primary vote 2025 election are dividing the conservatives vote, and I mean all conservative voters not only Coalition. And the beneficiary again is Labor, as polling analysis consistently indicates.
And as a footnote, looking to the future, the Coalition leaders are well educated and have ministerial experience in government, there is a well qualified shadow ministers team supporting them. They sit opposite every Albanese Labor Government Cabinet portfolio in Parliament unlike One Nation six who have never been opposition or government (Joyce the exception) and One Nation for thirty years state or federal.
Its time for the Liberals and Nationals to seperate themselves from Labor and the Greens and stop blaming One Nation
How are they joined, can you provide a reference?
I am aware of the One Nation tag Uniparty that is amusing given that most of their elected members and some staffers like Chief of Staff Ashby former Speaker of the House Slipper’s staffer were Liberal or National members.
Senator Hanson has no government or opposition experience and therefore accountable history despite thirty years of political career. Joyce MP moved from Nationals but was not elected as One Nation candidate and is former Deputy Prime Minister with PM’s Turnbull and Morrison, but failed to be elected National Leader after the 2025 election and changed sides.
No Labor, Greens or Teals connections as far as I am aware?

We may not be overcome with excitement at the Coalition thus far under Taylor and Canavan; I certainly am not. It’s possible and even reasonable to point out past legislative inaction, etc., including no action on 18C and 18D, and for many the hindsight as to how covid should have been managed. There is also the folly of seeming not to learn from the past. Accept all that but time to move into battle ready.
Where does that leave us? I do not believe the answer lies in ON policy populist cherry-picking despite Hanson’s claim she has always stood for this and that; and solid polls. She has already lost 35 of 53 variously elected ON members of parliaments. The Coalition should not get in the street fight with ON, the fight is with Labor-Greens-teal in what ever way they present.
The Federal Coalition has made some policy announcements. They are incomplete and lack published costings, 24 months out from May 2028. I understand the Parliamentary Budget Office is actively involved. An earlier election potentially post-NSW in March 2027 is possible if Labor see either risk in going further or an opportunity. Who knows? But the Coalition must be on war footing from mid 2027. The content and relevance of Coalition policies must be very certain, they are up against populist cherry picking that has crowd appeal. For Australia there is a very real risk that populism will satisfy electoral anger and return a Labor-led government. If ON is the answer, revise the question. Leave ON to rattle around with whatever. Yes, seek its preferences with policy.
Policy timidity will not get the Coalition elected. It will take clear and unequivocal key policy to turn poor polls into a majority. A simple majority is not enough; we need with ON and the Coalition to win 45 seats in the House to block Labor and its covert allies. Then 9 additional seats, now 27, are needed to claim a Senate majority. Hanson 4, Lambie , UAP 1 etc may help. These numbers do not allow for any losses. Quiet an ask, I agree.
A concern I do have is that will Australian voters accept there are tough decisions needed to turn it around? We can expect the mother of all scare campaigns from Labor and a very shrill ON.
