President Trump weighed in on phony Daniel J. Sullivan’s disappearance as criminal investigators probe the attempts by the Democrats and their decoy candidate to rig the election.
Daniel J. Sullivan previously ran in the Senate primary as a Republican and is now running in the general election as a no-party-affiliated candidate after receiving just 2.5% of the vote. He was placed on the ballot to confuse voters into voting for the wrong Dan Sullivan, giving Democrat Mary Peltola a victory in the solid red state.
According to text messages and documents reviewed by the New York Times, in the summer of 2025, a Peltola staffer was tasked with finding as many Dan Sullivans in Alaska as possible so they could add a second Dan Sullivan to the ballot. The plan reportedly involved traveling to “far-flung Alaskan communities and the appearance of a mysterious Midwestern operative, who traversed the state using a fake name and made his pitch to would-be candidates over beers at brew pubs.” Daniel J. Sullivan was found in “a tiny fishing village along the Alaska Panhandle, reachable only by air and sea.”
Both federal and state prosecutors are now investigating the matter.
But Sullivan is nowhere to be found as the Justice Department pursues a criminal investigation involving more than 40 subpoenas.
Trump blasted the “Fake Daniel J. Sullivan, Jr.” on Sunday, saying he “knows that he committed a Criminal Act, but he also knows that there are those around him who, in a certain way, were far worse, like Lawyer Marc Elias, and Liberal Radical Left Activist ‘Lawyer’ Norm Eisen.”
“These are CRIMINALS who totally abuse the Laws of our Land, and are destructive to our Country at levels never thought possible before,” Trump said.

The DOJ previously sued to block certification of Alaska’s Senate race if the Democrats’ decoy, Daniel J. Sullivan, causes incumbent Senator Dan S. Sullivan to lose. The lawsuit seeks to prevent certification if Sullivan loses but would have won “had all votes cast for Daniel J. Sullivan been cast instead for Senator Sullivan and Alaska’s rank-choice process played out accordingly.”
On Sunday, however, an Obama-appointed judge tossed out the lawsuit, which the Department of Justice plans to appeal.
