An Israel-bound Flydubai flight on Wednesday made an emergency landing in Saudi Arabia after plunging thousands of feet and sparking concerns of a hijacking incident from passengers.
Passengers and Israeli officials revealed that a bloody cockpit altercation resulted in a co-pilot stabbing the captain. Israeli officials are currently investigating whether it was an attempted “terror attack,” Fox News reports. Israeli fighter jets were scrambled to the area over the potential hijacking.
The cabin crew reportedly entered the cockpit and took control of the plane.
“There are many different accounts, but apparently the co-pilot stabbed the captain and collapsed onto the controls, shutting down the entire instrument panel. We began plunging downward for several minutes. Everyone on the plane was screaming, the overhead compartments opened, and the power went out. We were sure we were going to die. It was very scary,” a passenger told Fox.
Graphic images from on board the plane show a bloodied passenger who assisted cabin crew members and likely the stabbed pilot.
One passenger spoke to Fox News to describe the scene where there was “a lot of blood” from the stabbing.

According to i24 News correspondent Amichai Stein, the flight had plummeted 4,305 meters, over 14,000 feet, in 30 seconds at 8:22 am local time.
