A wealthy Canadian executive and his family became the victims of a horrifying home invasion Thursday morning after three masked criminals stormed their multimillion-dollar residence in one of Toronto’s most exclusive neighborhoods, shooting the father and his two adult daughters while brutally attacking his wife with a hammer.
The shocking attack unfolded around 3:43 a.m. on October 29 inside a luxury residence on Hyde Park Circle in Toronto’s prestigious Bridle Path neighborhood, an enclave known for its sprawling mansions, wealthy residents, and elaborate private security.
The father has been identified in media reports as businessman David Morton, while his wife, Doriana Zohil, and their two adult daughters, Maggie and Cristina Zohil-Morton, were also reportedly attacked.
According to UOL’s October 30 report, the family members were hospitalized following the violence. Toronto police have not publicly confirmed the victims’ identities.
According to CityNews Toronto, three masked suspects entered the property through a rear entrance while the family was inside.
The attackers were armed with handguns, and at least one carried a hammer.
Once inside, the criminals confronted the family and demanded valuables. A violent struggle erupted, and the suspects fired multiple gunshots.
Morton and both daughters were struck by gunfire. His wife was reportedly struck with the hammer.
All four family members were transported to the hospital.
Two victims sustained life-altering injuries, while the other two suffered non-life-threatening injuries, police said.
Toronto Police Inspector Kristy Smith confirmed that the suspects fled in an SUV following the confrontation.
The three masked assailants had not been apprehended as of the latest reports reviewed Friday.
The attack comes amid troubling signs that violent home invasions have become an increasingly serious threat in Canada’s largest city.
According to reporting by The Globe and Mail, Toronto had recorded 119 home invasions in 2026, an increase of approximately 35% compared with the same period in 2025.
