US PRESIDENT Donald Trump was last week acquitted of all charges in his impeachment trial.

The two indictments, Obstruction of Congress and Abuse of Power, were both convincingly defeated in the US Senate, falling short by 20 votes of the two-thirds majority required.

Given it was one of the most rushed impeachments in US history (six months with Christmas holidays thrown in), we think it fitting to waste as little time as possible reviewing the whole messy episode.

“The Democrats lost a representative who defected over to the Republicans. They look foolish for sitting on the articles of impeachment without any rational explanation.

“The Senate laughed at their total and complete incompetence. Well done [Senate Leader] Mitch McConnell. And Trump’s approval is higher today than it has ever been in the last three years of his presidency.

“The economy is roaring, the wall is being built, the judiciary is being transformed with Trump appointing a record number of conservative judges, more than any of his predecessors in recent memory.
