‘Back bench’ Albo faces revolt

by SEAN BURKE – ANTHONY Albanese’s industrial relations position is so out of step with Australian interests he could find himself on the back bench, according to Professor Ian Plimer.

The high-profile geologist and political commentator warned if the Prime Minister doesn’t “back off” and continues with his government’s agenda, Mr Albanese would lose office.

Why would a business risk spending hundreds of millions of dollars when they are likely to have their costs increase under Mr Albanese.

“You cannot have governments changing the rules when businesses are making long-term investments,” he told Sky News host Rita Panahi.

“That’s what has been happening in Australia since we’ve had a Labor Government.

“Capital, with the push of a key, can go anywhere else in the world.”

MASTERS

Prof Plimer said Mr Albanese was being led by the nose by his trade union masters and driving up costs for business.

The Prime Minister has recently proposed sector bargaining – cutting individual employers out of wage negotiations – and “right to disconnect” laws, which will encourage employees to ignore bosses’ after hours calls.

The Business Council of Australia, which has previously given blind support to the ALP, said this week that businesses were being weighed down by red tape, public sector spending and national debt.

Prof Plimer said Australia was becoming a risk to business under Mr Albanese.

“Why would a business risk spending hundreds of millions of dollars when they are likely to have their costs increase,” he said.

“Or that their due diligence, which gives them a certain amount of tolerance – and all that gets thrown out by government decisions.

WISH

“Companies look at their costs all the time. I wish governments would do that.”

He said trade unions had driven up the costs of businesses to operate.

“I come to you from Broken Hill. This was a very, very expensive place to operate. It was the biggest and richest ore body – those days are now finished.

“We are competing with other people around the world and we have to keep our costs down.”

Prof Plimer said the Prime Minister needed to address his government’s spending spree.

“I’ll give Mr Albanese an election winner. This won’t cost you a penny, mate.

“Why don’t you cut your costs? Then you don’t have to put up taxes. It’s pretty simple.” PC

  1. Albo and his offsiders, Bowan and Chalmers, and are truly hopeless. You couldn’t do worse to wreck a country except what Morrison and Turnbull did to the budget. And then there was the infiltration of the Libs with WEF members.
