Todd Blanche was confirmed by the Senate as Attorney General early on Saturday morning following an overnight Floor session to confirm Blanche and pass a continuing resolution to fund the government.
The Senate voted 50-49 along party lines to confirm Blanche. RINO Senators Susan Collins of Maine and Lisa Murkowski of Alaska, both of whom voted to confirm Biden’s Attorney General, Merrick Garland, were the only Republican no votes.
Separately, the Senate passed a short-term government funding bill to avoid a government shutdown on October 1. However, they did not pass the SAVE America Act, again bucking Trump before leaving town for the August recess.
The Senate adjourned this morning with nearly all Senators voting in favor. A few, including Senator Mike Lee (R-UT), were heard opposing adjournment after RINO Leader John Thune brought the motion.

“I am grateful to the Senate for staying late to complete this process. To the dedicated public servants of the Department of Justice, thank you for your work each day to uphold the law and keep our country safe,” he continued.
“God bless America.“

Chuck Schumer lashed out following the vote, writing on X, “Senate Republicans have handed Trump an excuse on a silver platter to keep up his pervasive, breathtaking corruption.” He added, “Todd Blanche has no intention of stopping Trump’s corruption. He advanced his career enabling it.”
Senate Republicans have handed Trump an excuse on a silver platter to keep up his pervasive, breathtaking corruption.
If you want to wipe out corruption, you can’t have the president’s personal attorney as the Attorney General. You don’t need a PhD in political science to know that.
Todd Blanche has no intention of stopping Trump’s corruption. He advanced his career enabling it. Every senator who voted to confirm him has now branded themselves as an enabler, too.
Senate Democrats will continue fighting against the Trump administration’s assault on the rule of law and undermining of democratic values. The American people deserve a government that serves the public interest and the law instead of one person’s greed, corruption, and ambition.

The contentious vote to confirm Blanche was decided by Senator Bill Cassidy, who announced he would support Blanche at the last minute on Friday, bringing Republicans to the 50 votes needed.
