by NEW LIBERAL ECONOMIST – IN 2024 alone, Australia has taken in more than 580,000 new residents leading to a situation where 31.5 per cent of Australians were born overseas.
One has to ask why? We know this creates a more difficult job market for young Australians to succeed in and raises the cost of housing in what is already one of the most expensive property markets in the world.
- The reason employers can’t find employees is because they are not willing to pay a fair wage.
- So they import “infinite immigration” to artificially drive wages down.
- Don’t believe the great lie of worker shortages.
Can the benefits really outweigh the costs?
Unfortunately for us, this is a bipartisan issue that is not up for political debate, with the Liberal Party appointing economist Steven Hamilton as the economic advisor to Deputy Liberal Leader and Shadow Treasurer, Ted O’Brien.
RESUFRACED
Past tweets of his have resurfaced, causing uproar within the conservative Right. These included him saying, “The optimal level of immigration is infinity,” and that immigration would allow Australia to “get fully functional people without that annoying child phase”.
Notwithstanding the morally questionable view Hamilton appears to have on children, is he correct?
First, we must understand how an economist like Steven Hamilton gets paid.
Hamilton is an assistant professor at George Washington University and a contributor to The Financial Review.
George Washington University is located in Washington DC – by far the most Left-wing city in the United States – while The Financial Review relies heavily on corporate advertising, which could influence Hamilton’s economic views.
From this, we can infer that the best way for Hamilton to please his employers is to push a pro-corporate and Left-wing stance on economics.
Is it any coincidence, then, that Hamilton advocates for the Left-wing policy of infinite immigration, which benefits corporate interests?
We know that a large labor pool allows corporations to lower their labor costs through the principle of supply and demand, boosting profitability and income for the top of society at the expense of working Australians.
Let’s contrast Hamilton’s economic theory with historical reality.
After the Black Plague killed 30-50 per cent of Europe’s population, the quality of life for workers actually improved. Wages in England grew by 40 per cent between the 1340-60s.
The economy did not collapse after this massive loss of life. Instead, the market allocated the remaining people to the most important jobs, which paid more, and workers enjoyed a better quality of life.
With this in mind, is it any wonder that Australia’s birth rate is below replacement level?
Under normal circumstances, as the birth rate declined, employers would have fewer employees to choose from and would therefore have to raise wages.
Higher wages incentivise Australians to have more children. We would be seeing a baby boom every other generation if we didn’t have mass migration.
To summarise: don’t believe the lie of worker shortages.
The reason employers can’t find employees is because they are not willing to pay a fair wage – so they import “infinite immigration” to artificially drive wages down.PC

Importing skilled migrants takes them away from the very developing countries that need skilled individuals to build those countries. We need to skill up our own young lads and lasses at Tech colleges and the like to build Australia in our own way.
Regional NSW has changed the most. Towns, regional towns like Lake Cargelico and Dubbo are unrecognisable.
It’s almost like after COVID the people of Australia have been replaced, by Africans and Indians, and at the same time we are now creating a new Aboriginal Culture.
Governor Macquarie would be so proud.
Interesting article and well written. I do query whether importing workers will slow our birth rate. It will increase it beyond the number of those imported because they will have children too, and probably at a faster rate. What is decreasing is the birth rate of generations of those born in Australia as we shrink as a percentage of the population. What is happening is a multi racial surge, a speeding up of the dumbing down of what we once proudly stood for: Australian values and culture. Get used to it. Until we have a party prepared to stand for something beyond being fearful of upsetting someone, we may as well sit and watch it happen.
Australia needs more New Liberal Economists and far fewer heartless globalists like Steven Hamilton. How on earth did he get a job advising the Liberal Party?
