Todd Blanche joins CNN’s State of the Union – October 25, 2026

Attorney General Todd Blanche went off on CNN’s Dana Bash during a fiery interview on Sunday after she attacked the Trump Administration’s lawsuit in Alaska, claiming that Trump is planning another January 6 scenario to overturn the results of the 2026 elections.

The DOJ on Friday sued to block certification of Alaska’s Senate race if the Democrats’ decoy, Daniel J. Sullivan, causes incumbent Senator Dan S. Sullivan to lose.

Daniel J. Sullivan previously ran in the Senate primary as a Republican and is now running in the general election as a no-party-affiliated candidate after receiving just 2.5% of the vote. He is being propped up to confuse voters into voting for the wrong Dan Sullivan, giving Democrat Mary Peltola a victory in the solid red state.

The lawsuit argues that “some supporters of Senator Sullivan likely will inadvertently vote for Daniel J. Sullivan.”

“To guard against this danger, it is vital that Defendants not certify any election result that may be impacted by voter confusion,” the filing says.

The DOJ seeks to prevent certification of the results if “(1) Senator Sullivan does not win the election; and (2) had all votes cast for Daniel J. Sullivan been cast instead for Senator Sullivan and Alaska’s rank-choice process played out accordingly, Senator Sullivan would have won the election.”

Blanche argued during an appearance on CNN’s State of the Union that Alaska is “violating federal law and the Constitution by allowing confusion in the ballot” by allowing Daniel J. Sullivan’s dirty trick to proceed.

Bash then ridiculously claimed that “One of the big questions is whether or not the president is laying the groundwork for a scenario where the — whether it’s Alaska or somewhere else there is, in your words, a couple of days ago, a doomsday scenario, and we could be in a situation where President Trump tries to overturn the election, and the result of that could be, God forbid, what we saw after January 6.”

Blanche went off. “Oh, stop it. Oh, you got to stop it with that. You are not being a real person. Come on, man!” he fired back as Bash cried, “Why are you yelling at me?”

“You set me up with the following question. Because the president, because the Department of Justice is concerned that there is an absolute fraud happening in Alaska, and he wants to do something about it — you’re saying, Mr. Attorney General, because the President of the United States wants to stop a fraud and confusion in Alaska, is he going to do something crazy? That is not. That is not a real question.”

Bash continued to accuse Blanche of “laying the groundwork for the president to try to overturn an election that he doesn’t like.”

“We’re not laying any groundwork for the president to do that. So your premise, your question, is not true!” Blanche said. “You have to listen to what I say, or it’s not a fair conversation. What I said is the groundwork that we are laying is for Alaska, for the state of Alaska. If it becomes an issue after the election, we’ll have the ability to determine whether there was confusion that violates the law in determining who the senator should be.”

“If the law is broken, and that’s for Alaska and the Alaskan court system to determine if the law is broken, then any state should not certify. I think we can all agree with that,” he added.

Still, Bash continued pushing her January 6, 2027 narrative, despite acknowledging a legal pathway to challenging the results. “I don’t think it’s an unfair question to ask that, given what we saw after the 2020 election,” she said.

“Alaskans are going to go to the ballots potentially confused, which is not something that’s allowed to happen in this country,” Blanche said before nuking Bash again over her obsession with January 6.

“Instead of focusing on how we can address that and how we can remedy that, you’re talking about January 6, okay? And that’s so embarrassing to this network that that’s what you’re talking about.”

“Oh, come on,” Bash interrupted, and Blanche continued, “Don’t ‘Oh, come on,’ me… There’s literally confusion, and then you cite polls. I mean, this isn’t a conversation about polls. It’s not a conversation about January 6. This is a conversation about what’s happening in Alaska right now.”
